    Starter removal

I must be more thorough! Fresh Lake Erie water for probably 6 hours tops! However, it was 2 days before I could get to the boat to do any work, at which time the starter turned over fine!

    Starter removal

Boat is aTournament 224, repowered from it std 485 mercruiser to an optional 5.7. Due to bilge pump impeller getting stuck, the bilge filled with water and covered the starter! Eventually, the starter will rust and seize up! (From what I’ve been told anyway) There just doesn’t seem like any...

    engine options

I couldn't possibly consider going with a " new" engine for this boat. There are plenty of good used engines out there for a fraction of the cost. I can do the work myself, that's why I'd like to know what other engine options may have been available when this boat was manufactured! The...

    engine options

Any one know or how to find out about what engines options would have been available for my 1982 Tournament 223? Presently, it has a tired 485 mercruiser but if I repower, I'd be thinking of upping the hp to that available from a 4.3 or even a v8. I know some mods would have to be made in the...

    Tournament 223 top speed

I've experimented quite a bit with the trim. Boat bottom is clean, no growth. Engine specs are 4200-4600 RPM @ WOT. I thought for sure when I dropped down to a 17 pitch that my rpm's would go up more than it did! I'll try an infrared meter for rpms. Heck, maybe it's the tach, and 32 mph...

    Tournament 223 top speed

1982 Tournament 223 powered by a 485, 3.7 185 hp mercruiser. Previous owner stated he could get 40mph as his top speed. Best I can get is 32 mph (half tank of gas and just me at 210 lbs.) The same prop is used(14x19) RPM's at WOT are 4200. Tried several different performance props but...

    prop size for tournament 223

Hi, my tournament 22 is new- well to me anyway. It's a 1982 and has a mercruiser 485 engine. Compression is right around 155 on each cylinder. My concern is that with only me aboard I can achieve 4200 rpm's, which is on the low side (4200-4600) at WOT. The prop is a 19" aluminum. Any...
