    265 Express vs 282 sailfish

I don't know about the 265, but the Saifish is a lot of boat to tow. I have a '95 272. You better have a substantial truck. I have a new Tundra, making almost 400 hp, it get's the job done, but my 1500 Chevy would have died. I get about 7.5 mpg towing. (ouch) Storage is cheaper.

    FloScan question

Thanks for the info. Mine definitely does not reset when my batteries are off. It zeroed out at some point while I was working on her, but since I have put her back in regular use, it has kept a running total.

Tips on Re-anchoring seat cushion snaps

I'd try a little bigger screw. I tried to patch with resin, and they just pulled out. Believe it or not, I also had luck using plasctic drywall anchors. It"s just a snap, not much of a load on it.

    Trailer Set-up for GW252

I bought a new trailer for my 1995 27, and my biggest issue was moving the bunks in to keep them off the trim tabs. I just put it on, eyeballed them and moved them in an inch or so. It's not that exact of a science. The boat is so heavy, as long as you keep it of the chines you should be ok.

    Removing adhesive

Razorblade was the best for me, acetone works too, but don't get it on your striping, it will dissolve it.

    gulfstream vs islander

I studied quite a bit on Islander vs. Sailfish. I ended up with a 1995 27 Sailfish with twin 200's. I get around a mile to the gallon cruising, much past cruising, and she likes a drink. I was looking for a 25, but found a great deal on a 27. I never considered a single drive boat. We make some...

    FloScan question

Does anyone know how to reset the numbers it is showing? Mine is keeping a running total, and I don't see any buttons or resets.

Thinking about buying this fixer upper...

Why don't you just call a surveyor? There should be plenty around Baton Rouge. I had my 27 Saifish surveyed for around $300. You can find a surveyor willing to do as much or as little as you want checked. Most of them won't do outboards, but any mechanic could give it a look. It would be a few...

    Gelcoat Sanding, Polishing, an Waxing

For anyone else going through the same situation, I have some updates on what has and hasn't worked for me. I've tried Meguiars and 3M products. I achieved almost the identical results. The difference was 3M did it in 2 steps versus 3. I ultimately got better and faster results sanding...

    GPS antenna question

My boat has 2 older GPS units on it. One is Furuno the other is Garmin. Both of the antennas have a smaller metal piece on them with a seperate wire running to it. What is this piece? The new unit I just purchased doesn't have it. I'm keeping one of the older units as a backup. Thanks for the...

    Gelcoat Sanding, Polishing, an Waxing

I just bought a 1995 Sailfish 272. It's in pretty good shape. I've replaced all the pumps, fuel lines, upholstery, and some of the elctronics. Now I'm on to the gelcoat finish. The hull has a little shine to it. I removed all the old registration and some striping. The areas underneath are...
