    Trailering

I have been happy with my Owen's trailer now approaching 5 years of ownership. I drove to St. Pete to buy it. Most half ton trucks can tow your boat. I would however, spend extra on electric over hydraulic brake system. Your truck and nerves will thank you.

    Repower a 2001 22 Seafarer

I vote for a 250. When Grady last built the 228 it was rigged with a 300. The 4.2 Yamaha 250 is a stronger motor than the older 3.3 liter 250 abd weighs less. New motor is almost a new boat.

Adding a boat to the family

Hey Yall, I hope everyone is doing well. I have not been here in a while. I think i am going to upgrade my switch panel on my 228 with a new set up from Nuwire in Georgia. We are buying a 2026 Tritoon from Godfrey. I had a budget I wanted to stay in and it checks enough boxes. I did my...

Zipper stuck on overhead storage compartment

If it's corroded you can get 30% vinegar and put it in a spray bottle and the acid will dissolve the corrosion. It will free Up the zipper. I soaked some corroded zippers on side curtains in the vinegar. It freed them and then I lubed them.

    228 offshore

I take my 228 everywhere . Pick your days and watch the weather. If it looks iffy don't go. I routinely fish out of Florida's east coast and the Keys with it. It works well for our purposes. We travel up to 30-40 off. I have taken it to the Bahamas a couple times and the Dry Tortugas .

Hello from the Smokies & Good Luck next week

Hey Yall: I got a call from Glacier this past Monday checking in on me. He said a few folks were wondering about us. I live on a mountain stream called Caney Fork . We are at the bottom and have a few acres in pasture. The creek rose by my estimates between 10 and 12 feet above its base...

Drain stoppers for fish box & ice chest

Hey Yall, This summer I was in the Keys and I lost one of those rubber stoppers you insert into the overboard drains in the ice chest fish box on the boat. I went to the Grady dealer in Islamorada and they didn't carry that style . I have been to Lowes as well. So, in mid 2000s Gradys they...

Possible Spun Hub PowerTech 4 Blade

Question, I noticed a low speed vibration this boating season . I honestly did not think much of it. So, did they replace the power cushion hub assembly? I thought the rods are part of the rubber insert. Are they separate?

    Mounting Batteries in Bow

That's a negative ghost rider. Don't do it. The shorter the cable run between the motor and batteries the better. Even if you run 2AWG. Like others said flooded batteries will drop a plate with all the bouncing in the bow. The bow is what takes the force of the wave energy and disperses it...

    Freedom 275 shade

We have it to retract with a bonnet against the hard top. I have two marine bungy chords with stainless hardware. I upgraded to a a nearly flush quick disconnect mount on the gunwhale so you could walk on top of it or when fishing that the line won't catch it. I use my boat maybe 40% for...
