garyvoss - I know this thread is old I missed it last year. But wanted to share the pics of my Marlin transom. Ran into the same issue with the aluminum cap letting water in. The rest of the boat is solid and I wanted to re-power - so had it done last summer right about the same time you posted...

Looks great. I almost did the same thing, but ended up mounting a 15 in the aft cabin wall below

Upgraded Dash - garmin trims not on yet

Replaced mine with a new panel. All switches were working when I took it out, a couple of leads are corroded to the breakers. $25 + shipping from FL

Just bought my first Grady and loving it! 94 Marlin 280 super clean and in excellent condition. 2001 engines running strong. A few minor things to fix and some upgrades planned but she’s ready to go!
