    275 underpowered with twin 150

Can't answer your questions on twin 150's and power as I have a 275 with an F350 on it which has more than enough power to handle a fully loaded boat in rough water. What I can tell you is that from my evaluation before I purchased, the twin 200's buy you nothing over twin 150's, the added...

    Operating Cost

My 275 Tournament costs +/- $12,000 a year to run. The boat is in a slip by summer and inside storage by winter ($6,300/yr), about 50% of the maintenance is done by the dealer and 50% by me and I log between 175 and 200 engine hours per year, I think my fuel bill this year was +/- $4,000. Your...

    Oddball Fuel Issues

I would consider the fuel pumps in this equation. I replaced mine at 1,200 hours and it got rid of a number of borderline issues, the engine ran smoother, idled better and responded better on acceleration. Just a thought.

    My current experience with Raymarine

After a lot of though, I have come to the conclusion, with trepidation to buy a used radar off of EBay and install it on my existing gear. I am not comfortable with this decision but I can't bring myself to junking what I have (it does work very well) even if I could sell it on EBay for maybe...

    My current experience with Raymarine

OK, so here I am on the preverbal soap box, please excuse my rant but I am angry and I think you guys need to know about this. The following is a summary of my current dealings with Raymarine. Before you spend a red cent with this company read this. When I purchased my 275 Tournament back...

Here we go again...maybe hi fuel costs

I look at my fuel bill as part of my summer vacation budget. So this year we are going on a more expensive vacation, perhaps we will stay a little closer to home. Bluntly, it will not impact my time on the water, I will bitch about it but in the end I will pay the bill. All other options...

    New Grady Owner

Beautiful boat, I spent a lot of time on one at the Boston Boat show with a buddy who is in the market, we were both very impressed. GW is really raising the bar on all the other companies and is doing so across the product line. In this crappy economy for them to be in the position that...

    Yamaha 300 V-6 vs 350 V-8

Putting bottom paint on the lower unit was Yamaha's solution to the tilt issue, problem is you have to get the paint up inside the lower water pick up inner passages which I was not interested in doing. Again, the F350 unlike most engines has the second water pick up at the lowest point on the...

    Yamaha 300 V-6 vs 350 V-8

Capt. Ed, Congratulations on the new purchase. You will be thrilled with the F350 it has been a great engine for my boat and I put a good amount of hours on each year. To put it in perspective, the F350 pushes my 275 at 47 MPH max, gets 2.2 MPG between 26 & 30 MPH is quiet and has more torque...

    FREEDOM 335

I asked my dealer about it the other day and was told that there is only one, that it is in the factory now and they are racing to get it ready for the Miami boat show.

    Yamaha 300 V-6 vs 350 V-8

A bit of techno babble from my perspective on the F350 vs. the new F300. The F350 has a lower break mean effective pressure than the F300 does which translates to less force on the crankshaft and hence bearings which translate maybe into more durability. I like the even firing order of the...

    Yamaha 300 V-6 vs 350 V-8

I have an F 350 on my 2008 Tournament 275. The engine has 650 hours on it, has been flawless and is a perfect match for the 275. For a 255, I would say that the tradeoff of weight to additional horse power and torque for the 255 would not be worth it. I was skeptical about the 300 at first...

outboards not all the way out ?

Simple, it is a design flaw on the newer boats whereby the distance from the transom to the inner liner portion where the fish box and live well are located not being sufficient to allow the newer engines to lift all the way out of the water without hitting the fish box lid. There is plenty of...

WA, CC or DC for family/fishing use?

All I can tell you is that DC's function very well as an all-around platform. I have owned DC's for 19 years and fish mine hard (ca 250 engine hours per year) switching between fly fishing or trolling for bass and bluefish or trolling, jigging or live lining for tuna. It does all well and in...

    Replacing head gaskets ?

I did it on my old 1995 Yamaha 200 HP. The reason I did mine if I remember correctly was that there was some salt residue on the gasket edge. The job is no big deal to do and as stated in the previous post make sure you re-torque the heads after. I would not do it unless you see some reason...
