So just ordered a new 232 Gulfstream with twin 200's and a 9.9 kicker. Just got a call from my dealer that Yamaha doesn't have the bracket any longer to connect the kicker to main engines for steering and need to go with a Garmin remote to turn your kicker. Anyone know anything about this?

The problem the steering system is now integrated into the Yamaha 200. Yamaha doesn’t make attachments for the tie bar to connect to. We have ran into this problem on our 300 and 450 outboards. I have made custom brackets for customer but they don’t work very well.

I connected my kicker with the Seastar Kicker Tie Bar kit which is a cable system that connects to the main motor, works great
Just curious, why a kicker with twins? We slow troll by shutting off 1 engine and alternate. As long as you use fresh fuel and/or a detergent, 4 strokes don't care if they idle a lot as long as you change oil a little more often.
Better speed control, is actually quieter and not racking up hours on the large engines.
My Grady dealer is telling me that Yamaha no longer has the attachment piece open on the 2024 motors, this no where to mount the tie bar kit. Is frustrating and the alternatives (remote) are damn expensive.

I run twins with no kicker. Did 926 miles last year, with a lot of weekends trolling, two 7 day trips, one overnighter. I finished up with 95 and 90 hours on each engine this year. and I spent a lot of days fishing... to me I think ive hit the sweet spot. any less hours and im still doing the 100hr service. but I didn't buy install, maintain a kicker. nicer steering, big alternator is charging, plus the mains are so much quieter then a 9.9.
Why do you require twin engines? If you went with a single and then a kicker you could have used an ez steer set up. I use it on my 225 Yamaha and 8 HP Yamaha high thrust trolling in Lake Michingan and it works great.
many reasons, but redundancy, manuverability, better handling, traction and hole shot...and the fact that my boat would be anemic with a single engine. you won't hit 50mph with a single 225 on a 270
ive run a single main with a 9.9 on several different boats. ez steer was ok but not amazing. once you go to power steering its hard to go back
