Good Morning,
I have a 2017 Freedom 285, second year that I’ve owned it. Every time that I fuel up when I release the pump lever I get fuel spurting out of the fill. This happens every time you release the lever no matter how much fuel is in the tank! Could it be that charcoal canister, which I can’t find!
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hmmm. This isn't making sense. If I'm reading your post right, you are saying that, for example... if you have a nearly empty tank, and you pump 2 gallons into it and then release the lever that fuel will spurt out at you?
 
Yes, no matter how much fuel is in the tank it spurts out when I release the lever. It happens every time and doesn’t matter where I fuel up!

That’s correct, it doesn’t matter how much fuel is in the tank, anytime you release the lever fuel spurts out, it doesn’t matter where I fuel up! It happens every time you release the lever!

Hmmm, yeah, that's just not making sense - that when you STOP the flow, it spurts out.

So... thinking through this... when fuel is flowing maybe it is overcoming a slight pressure in the tank... but when you slow the flow, the pressure in the tank overcomes the flow rate and it burps back out.

That would mean that the tank isn't vented properly. And, really, a tank system is quite dirt simple... so....

-- Inspect the vent system...

-- Vent line has no dips in it where fuel can accumulate
-- Since you have a stupid EPA carbon cannister setup, you probably have a removable vent fitting on the hull? If so, you would be able to remove thehull fitting vent "filter" using an an Allen wrench. Remove and inspect.
-- If the tank has been "topped off", there's a very good chance the carbon filter is plugged up. Even without topping off, there's a chance.
---- Personally, I think it's best to just get rid of the carbon thing. You can leave it in place - just bypass it.
---- Follow either the hull vent fitting or the vent line from your tank and you will find the cannister. Or, as I mentioned just above, simply run a new vent hose from the tank to the hull fitting.

I already removed the hull fitting and it was clear
So my thought was the canister, it might be under the port side seat
