Greetings, does anyone have a recommendation for replacement batteries for Freedom 192? Thanks.

I replaced the batteries on my 2004 Grady White 228 Seafarer back in the late fall/early winter of 2023. I called up my local Grady White dealership and they recommended that I just buy new batteries of the same size, style and so forth that I currently had. My boat had/has two starting/cranking Group 24 batteries, of which I replaced those with the exact same thing, two Interstate brand Group 24M-XHD batteries. This will be the start of the third season with them, and besides a loose connection at the battery terminal when I initially installed them, no issues so far, knock on wood. If you don't know off the top of your head, I'd double check to see what size and style of batteries are currently on your boat. Then replace those with new ones of the same size and style. I'm sure that there will be several along here shortly with battery brand recommendations and so forth, of which I've had good luck with Interstate, and they do sell some of them at Costco or your other local big box stores/warehouses. Some will likely recommend the AGM batteries, though when I talked to my local GW dealership on the phone about replacing the batteries, I asked about the AGM's and the tech didn't recommend them. He mentioned they were about twice as expensive as the regular wet cell batteries and didn't seem to last all that much longer to justify the additional costs. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. Currently I have interstate 27M-HXD. I’ll check the CCA on the 24M -HXD which I have found locally. Thanks again.

Per the Interstate website, it looks like the CCA of the two are the same at 800. I appears as though the biggest difference between the two, other than the size, would be that the 27M-XHD has a higher reserve capacity at 182 vs the 24M-XHD which is only 135. Not sure if that'll make any sort of difference in your particular application, unless you have a ton of electronics or whatnot.

Copy that. I’m pretty sure price is a bit higher for the 27M. I think the 24M will work just fine. Thanks Mustang 65!

Per the Interstate website, the 27M-XHD is only $10 more per battery than the 24M-XHD. If you have the room, which it seems as though you do since you already have 27's in there, I don't see how it could hurt to go with the slightly bigger sized battery, especially with it only being $10 more a piece. That being said, I also doubt you'd have any issue with the 24's and they might even save you 20 lbs or so in weight. Your boat and your call, though. Good luck!

Depends on how you're using the battery. If it's used with not too much "engine off" time, then all you really need is a good marine cranking battery. Deka's are reliably one of the best out there. Their group 24 M7 would be perfect - we've been using those at the shop for all of our customers for decades.

Walmart. Now, I absolutely hate Walmart. But I always buy batteries at Walmart. They have Marine/RV Grp27. They will last 5 years. You'll save $100
