I just purchased a well care for 248. It did not come with factory livewell. The port compartment has a overboard drain, Has anybody just added a stand pipe for a drain instead of the 2nd high water drain out the side of the hull that the factory installed LW had? Looking at the fishbox on starboard side they did not seal the top edge so fish slop can slosh over the into the bilge. Has anybody sealed that up? Last ? Has anyone plumbed the freshwater shower in the transom to a garden hose for a freshwater washdown? Will the factory pump make enough pressure? I guess I could plumb the saltwater hose in the bilge with a ball valve Y to the freshwater tank. Pic of fishbox under helm seat. Fbox.jpegimage2.jpeg

Welcome!

All of your questions sound straight forward enough and easy to do.

Port compartment - sure, nothing wrong with adding a standpipe. But what about a circulating pump? Maybe this box is best used with ice to keep all the fish you're going to catch on ice :) Sealing it... easy enough to seal that gap, as well. Larger gaps... use a piece of PVC trim molding to help. The bare fiberglass is sealed - but because it's not "smooth" it might be a bit tough to clean. Not horrible, though. But maybe add a few coats of paint to help smooth it a bit more?

Yes, you could easily plumb a garden hose connection into the fresh water supply with a T. But you're going to go through the water really fast. And fresh water pumps usually are not quite as strong as a washdown. Best to use the existing raw water wash down.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here: "I guess I could plumb the saltwater hose in the bilge with a ball valve Y to the freshwater tank"

Oh... get that boat secured properly on the trailer - up tight to the winch stand! :) Looks like the stand might need to be slid down a bit, too?

Thank you for the replys. That Pic of the boat is from the previous owner sales add. I got it tight on the bow roller now. This boat has the 56 gal Aux tank that I am thinking about pulling and using that space for larger freshwater and other storage since it will be a considerable space to work with. I guess I was complaining about Grady not sealing and making them finished for easy cleaning at the top and back. One more thing. Has anyone modified the helm to be able to put larger electronics in flush mounted?

Trailer... good deal!

Complaining? Nah. GW's are expensive boats - that area certainly could have been done better!

Something to keep in mind with freshwater... you need to cycle it through on a VERY regular basis or it will get stagnant/nasty. There are chemicals that help - even a bit of bleach is OK.
