Re-do needed. Best method to remove bottom paint?

I just bought a Freedom 255. The bottom paint is about the worse I've ever seen; a hodge-podge mess of epoxy, ablative, and many places just peeling off is sheets. The boat is on a bunk trailer, so no easy way to put it on blocks. I suppose I will have to wait the month or more for a local...

suicide knob / power knob for steering whel

I have used the same Edson knob on my Grady's for the last 25 years, and as far as I'm concerned, they ware worth the price. BTW, they have a 316 stainless steel band that works with pretty much any ross-section shape wheel.

    New Trailer for sale

I thought it might work for me (need a 26 tandem 6750lb min), but in checking, MagicTilt shows that model number to be for an up to 24' boat.

    tuna in half moon bay

That pic I posted above was just for fun; somebody wanted a fish pic. And no, that's not taken in California, and It's not me catchin those fish. That is a sweet float plane, though. We have black sea bass in the offshore waters of Delaware, and we'd take them over flounder, which is...

    tuna in half moon bay

I fondly remember Placerville; quaint little town. It was on one segment of my required cross-country flights when I got my pilot's license, back in June of '67. In fact, I flew pretty much all over northern California, and to some extent, a bit south, down to Bakersfield. I was stationed at...

    First engine mistake, how bad?

As Grady23, I flush the engines with Salt Away (get the hose adapter kit). That stuff will keep the inside (and even the outside) of your engines clean, and free of any salt.

New Boat Order - Kicker choices

Sweet setup you've got there. Years ago (many), I had a Grady Offshore 24, and I put a Yamaha 9.9 on a bracket, for trolling out about 10 mi. I plumbed up the an unused port on the fuel filter boss, and ran the kicker right off my main tank. That worked great. I also wondered about steering...

Question about the difference between a 282 and a 265...

I have a 282 Sailfish, and had a 252 Sailfish before that. We have caught white marlin, tuna, and lots of other species on both boats, and although you can't fish the transom, like I could on my 29 Blackfin, it hasn't stopped us from catching our share of fish. The 282 handles beautifully, and...

    Update on cabin rod-racks.

I replied to your message, but will repeat here JIC I messed something up. Hello Mike, You're sure right about that being a long time ago. I'm not sure how long ago, but I'd say 10 or 12 years. I have long since lost my guy that had the CNC router, where they were precision cut to a paper...

Scuppers Below the Waterline and No Water in Bilge

Before you do any cutting, I would call GW customer service, and ask about access to replace hoses and thru-hulls. I may be wrong, but I *think* that if you are of thin build, and somewhat of a mechanical contortionist, the job can be done without cutting fiberglass. My '93 Sailfish was really...

Scuppers Below the Waterline and No Water in Bilge

What Fishtales said is right on the money. My previous Grady was a 1993 Sailfish 282, which I sold in 2005, if I remember correctly. Some years before I sold her, I was doing my annual inspection, and reached down through the narrow space there was to access those scupper hoses. When I squeezed...

    VHF Radio Output

ROBERTH, I really don't think your range will be affected, unless the conditions were such that your 19 watt transmitter was so far down in the noise floor, that the transmission was "not quite intelligible", and 3/4 db increase in signal would make it "just barely intelligible". But I think...
