    Hydraulic Steering

It is basically a "sealed" system, however the fill cap, on the helm, (fluid reservoir) is vented. You should check the fluid level occasionally, to make sure your not losing fluid due to a leak, (typically at the cylinder shaft seals). The level should be just below the threads for the fill...

    Suck it up

Glad someone brought this up. Too many issues messing with pumps and gasoline. Not to mention using plastic containers, since there's no way to ground everything and prevent static. I'm not really comfortable going along with this, but... I think BobP gave the safest DIY method...

    1990 VX250 question, 1990 GW Gulfstream

I was topping out at 40, (barely) on my 91 Gulfstream... 2000 ox66 250. Max rpm's were around 5600. Light load, (2 people, half fuel) trimmed up and smooth sea conditions. 17" pitch prop.

    Radar Installation

You know, now that you mentioned this... on the newer Grady factory hardtops, isn't there a downward slope already built into the top, (specifically for the radar)? The mount I installed was on an after market hard top.

    Hydraulic Steering

Excellent point and something that gets overlooked. Assuming you have Teleflex/Seastar hydraulic steering... The cylinder brackets, which are bolted to the end of the cylinder shaft and connected to the engines support shaft, inside the tilt tube, need to be completely removed and well...

    Radar Installation

Lol... I hear that. I could never understand those prices either.... rediculous. I installed a mount on a friends Seafarer a few years ago. He shelled out around $250 for it, (and that was a deal)... then another $50 for a light pole, (option). He said they can stick the wedge "you know...

    Radar Installation

Re: Radar If your going to use a raised mount with the radar, the low profile method, or "mushroom", (gps, Sirius, etc) antenna's will be fine. There is no verticle adjustment, just horizontal. The radome should be mounted with about a 4 or 5 degree "down" angle. That should put it...

    Running outboard with no water!

My local Yamaha dealer told me to "never" run the motor without water, (either submerged or on ear muffs). Even if your only doing a compression test, (just cranking). I've heard it from plenty of others too. You'll also see it stated through-out the owners manual.

    VST inspected

Actually, in the maintenance section of the Yamaha owners manual, under "storing outboard motor", it says - "Drain the remaining gasoline from the VST".

    Gulfstream Power

I had a 91 Gulfstream, with a 2000 250 ox66. All around performance was fine, but it was a bit thirsty. Cruise, with a light load, was around 27 mph @ 4500 rpm, 15/16 gph. The Gulfstream is a heavy boat and with a single outboard you need to be over 4000 rpm just to stay on plane. I...

    Antifouling paint results

I've always used Trilux 33 - http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/us ... ttom+Paint Unfortunately, it's not a whole lot better. It does help somewhat, (I'm sure it would be worse with nothing at all), but not nearly as well as regular bottom paint. I wish there was something better for...

    Gulfstream 1998 Electrical Problem

Bottom of page 6-5 in the manual states the 40 amp breaker supplies power to the accessory switch panel. http://www.gradywhite.com/customer/manu ... &model=232 Unfortunately the manual does not clearly show how the fuse blocks, (dash and hard top) are supplied, but page 6-18, (hard top...

    Gulfstream 1998 Electrical Problem

1998 manuals - http://www.gradywhite.com/customer/manu ... ected=1998 That breaker does feed the accessories, see page 6-12, "power supply for accessories". See page 6-8 for switch panel wiring. Those breakers do go bad. Check the breaker by removing it from transom and put your red...

Re: Nothing Else Matters Was there a "pull" line in one of the pipe legs already... from the factory? Most mfr's put them in, for add-ons.

motor bracket leak - what's the best fix?

Well... again, based on what you describe, (and it sounds exactly like what I have seen) all you need is a decent re-seal. I had one grady, when I pulled the boat for the first time, the bracket was almost completely filled with water. Re-sealed it and never had a drop after that, (3 seasons in...
