    Hydrofoils on twin engined Gradys

Re: catch22 Agree... something doesn't sound right. I wonder if the "water comming under the motors" is just water being deflected off the trim tabs? How about motor height?... too low?

motor bracket leak - what's the best fix?

Stonephoto, I just re-read this thread and, unless I somehow missed it, if your only issue is water in the bracket, (leaking) you don't have to remove the bracket or motor. Just remove any old sealent, clean and re-seal around the perimiter of the bracket, where it meats the transom. Seal...

    Radar Installation

Yea, I think all radars have that adjustment. Like you said, just head straight toward a fixed target, (buoy, tower, etc) and adjust the heading line. The chances of you lining up the radar perfectly "ahead", (when mounting) is pretty slim.

    Hydrofoils on twin engined Gradys

Trim tabs should be "down", (bow down) when starting out. Once your up on plane, then you can adjust them "up". Same for the motors... trim down, (tucked in) when starting out.

    1985 Yamaha 115 2 stroke

115's are definitely under powered. 150's are ok... marginal, but ok. I think 200's are more common for that boat. Imo, the 175 Zukes would be ok, but I would try to get a deal on 200's.

    Trim tabs

Got any pics? What was it Chielf Brody said?... "your gona need a bigger boat". How about... "your gona need bigger tabs". :P Just kidding. Agree with all of the above. Imo, every boat should have trim tabs as standard equipment.

    91 Dolphin fuel capacity

According to their 1991 catalog - The 250 Dolphin, (notched transom) and the 253G, (bracket) have 2 fuel tanks. A 150 and a 90, for a total of 240. The 251, (i/0 version) has a single 150 gallon tank. It also shows a diesel tank with a 125 gallon capacity. Grady catalogs -...

    Radar Installation

Yes... you should be able to do it yourself. If you purchase a bundle, the only seperate item you'll need is a transducer. Other optional items to consider are... a stanchion mount for the antenna and, as Bobp mentioned, a radar mount. I did a 4212 bundle install, (with hd radar) a little...

VAPOR SEPARATOR TANK / FILTER - MAINTENANCE

You brought up another good point in your previous post and I agree... I don't think the ox66's use the pre-filter... just the hpdi's. I don't see it in any of Yamaha's parts drawings. I know the ox66 isn't as finicky as an hpdi, but without the pre-filter, I would think it's just as...

VAPOR SEPARATOR TANK / FILTER - MAINTENANCE

Yea, I was a little worried there would be confusion about the pre-filter pic, (2 shown). I think the op on the bbc thread was having difficulty removing it and decided to replace the connector itself. The replacement filter will look like the bottom pic. The connector is attached to the hose...

    High Voltage

I don't know what type of boat you have, but the first thing that comes to mind is - a 24 volt trolling motor set up. Either that, or somebody goofed when they wired your batteries, (series, instead of parrelel). Only the positives from any batteries should be connected to the selecter...

    Problems with Seastar helm.

3/4's of a turn, (before it moves) is pretty bad. Did you check the seals on each end of the cylinder for leaks. They're usually the first thing to start leaking. Make sure you are properly bleeding the system according to Seastar - http://ww2.seastarsteering.com/OUTBOARD ... urge.htm&1...

    My First Grady

The Gulfstream is a great boat! That's a terrfic price for a 98, especially with a trailer included. Do they know how many hours on the motor? Repo's scare me for one reason... "was anything sabotaged". As CJBrown said... get a survey, (3rd party). Always worth it. I had a 91 with...

Gas and Winterize Question ? Full Tank are Empty ????

I think it's also important to make sure stabalized fuel has been thorougly run through the motor. I've seen a lot of people add stabalizer after they pulled the boat for storage. If your using your boat in cold weather, (Stripers) it's a good idea to start adding a stabalizer, (or Startron)...

motor bracket leak - what's the best fix?

I've had 4 Gray's with brackets. 2 of them leaked. As gw204 mentioned... #1 through #3 did it for me. Teflon tape on the drain plug. Seal the inspection plate, (including the O ring) and screws with Life Seal, 3M 4200, etc. Seal the entire perimiter of the bracket/tansom with same.

VAPOR SEPARATOR TANK / FILTER - MAINTENANCE

Here's your op Bob, (lots of info there) - http://www.greatgrady.com/forum/viewtop ... sc&start=0 I used your method and it worked fine. I agree, leave the tank in-place. VST is on port side, toward the front. Replace the yellow filter, (screen), tank seal, (O ring) and pre-filter...

    Twin Screws

By another... do you mean a second 200, (twins)? If you do... I would say "no". Max hp on the 84 is 280. They increased it to 300 in 86. 1984 catalog, (page 9) - http://www.gradywhite.com/customer/cata ... s/1984.pdf
