Thinking of getting a Honda EU2000i

http://www.boemarine.com/honda-engines- ... generator/ BOE Marine's price for the Honda, and looks like it does includes shipping. I just took delivery of a 2000W inverter from BOE, and as usual, prompt service.

How do you dock your Sailfish..?

When you have mastered the boat first in no wind you should be able to stop about any dock w/o even kissing it from any direction. Then try that in wind you will find it a lot different, so do it again, don't think you will find much time to throttle steer nor the positive effects as before...

Thinking of getting a Honda EU2000i

The relationship of CO2 to breathing air I stated is technically incorrect. Had to look into it myself, sometime in the past I must have acquired it. Perhaps about crawling on the floor staying low in a fire, but I don't think so. Whatever, I'm sure it will come to me, just takes a while...

    1986 GW Sailfish 255

Richie - "marine plywood" 3/4 inch is well over 100 bucks, 1/2 inch is about 100 bucks. Last time purchased retail on LI about 3 yrs ago. 5 galls total resin incl. hardnener will get the job done for the cutout style transom. Presuming the outer skin will be reapplied if working from the back...

Thinking of getting a Honda EU2000i

Since the cabin is much lower than the cockpit, be aware that CO is many times heavier than air so it tehds to find the cabin. You may want to ask others where they located the Honda generator when running. And mounting a CO monitor/alarm in cabin is a good idea.

My new to me 1993 Gulfstream

Congratulations on the Gulfstream, and some upgrade it is from the 18 footer. Without exception every Gulfstream owner here likes theirs. Read some of the posts, like the recent one on a new Windlass on Brian's Islander, seems to be a most popular unit these days. Plenty of projects and...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

Mike, gelcoat and other fairing work comes last, get your hull structural work started and on it way. I see your concern with the cabin tub, seems to be it's looks, but if it is out of your way, it goes faster, otherwise like working up under a dashboard in car, been there done that. You may...

    Fixing the Ongaro Horns

I recall Ongaro waranty is 2 yrs, which means time to get new ones for those on saltwater. Bought the Ongaros since longer warranty (probaby paid more which equals longer wannary not so much better design), I guess running on fumes now since more than 2 yrs.

Transom issues with mid 90’s Sailfish

In general, as with any boat model of any brand, the advice is to have a pre-purchase survey performed by a qualified expert, ask around in your particular area for a recommendation, or ask here. I tend to favor experience in rebuilding boats, on a resume. Dunk is well known and highly...

    Islander 270 Windlass Upgrade

By the way, the foredeck is crowned so be aware with larger flat backing plates. The bottom of the pulpit is not flat for that reason, found out after I replicated a new pulpit out of glass instead of what grady used in a vacuum filled mold. All complex shapes = lots of time but some things...

    Islander 270 Windlass Upgrade

Wait until you read this, you go into the cabin and remove the partition wall you see above the VBerth- the one with the little door in it, easy it comes out, and you can slide in there face up all the way. Easy access however raise up the top of the V berth under your back with cushions to be...

    New Yamaha 200

'I'm sure and being that they are basically one not two heads full of valve gear much more economic to manufactuer and price up. For a few years in a row when I was attending the NYC Boat Show, I would always ask the Yamaha factory guy when Yamaha is going to answer the call for a 175 like...

    Islander 270 Windlass Upgrade

Robert H, if you don't have a HW heater in the middle compartment of the V berth, I bet you can climb in there and close the top! It is huge and it is also open from the front end to the two side compartments. Check for yourself, I have carnal knowledge with same boat ! The pass thru is along...

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

Real wood pro balsa is very easy to work with and light, but twice the cost as marine ply. I find costs double, triple, etc. If the core is sealed against any moisture ever touching it, it will last forever. If more expensive non rotting core is penerated it will not rot, but delaminates from...

    New Yamaha 200

Advice for restoring a "Gil" bracket

As an alternative to costly engine removal, removing bracket, recoating, reversing back, and aluminum is a precious metal these days, be it costly in time and/or $$: After you find out where it leaks, you can also fill it with water to the brim and see where it leaks out if not the plates on...
