    Tip needed for non-skid mat

There are mats that are available (Kitchens Etc. makes mats that go under cutting boards) but a wet towel underneath will help it from sliding but short of securing it, it's gonna slide. Keep it in the aft in a corner and use your tabs to comp for the weight.

    wish this was available before.

What a joke. $150 for what? For what he offers, you could ascertain in a shop manual or an hour at the boat yard. $1200 for a day of showing people general maintanence...not a bad gig. Go to B.W. or West and they'll show you for free.

    Open up electronics box

I would not recommend cutting into it either. If nothing else, there is alot of lateral strain at the helm. I think cutting into the box will create more cracking down the road. (I have a stress crack at the base of my electronics box)

    changing courtesy to led

Do they provide enough light to tie knots? How is the red vs. white?

    changing courtesy to led

I looked into changing the deck lights to LED's mainly b/c of the draw when I'm fishing at night. I think you are going to be disappointed in the amount of light they emit. If it's for asthetics, they will look pretty but won't illuminate your deck.

    Water intrusion???? 228 Seafarer

I noticed this season that I, too, have excessive water in the bilge. I had the bilge pump replaced (had to remove livewell and all hose attachments) and just chalked up the extra water as poor re-installation. But, I did notice a couple months ago that the outer flange on one of the thru-hulls...

Ethanol blended gas is BAD, BAD, BAD!

IMHO, the main reason you had such a bad experience is because you mixed MTBE with E-10 fuel. Yes, E-10 does do all the things alluded to here but one CANNOT MIX LARGE QTYS OF E-10 w/ MTBE. End of story. We have been dealing w/ E-10 fuel for years in the N.E. and I'm sure else where across the...

New Sailfish owner with a handling question.

Grog beat me to the punch...check the amount of fluid at the helm. If you need to add fluid, add it slowly turning the wheel slowly back and forth. Also watch it- if it's that low, you may have a leak. Check the SEA-STAR hydraulic ram and its fittings. the nuts and bolts can come loose...

    E-10 fuel and a 6-8 week layup?

6 weeks isn't that long considering the N.E. boats are on the hard for 6 months! Treat the fuel (I, too, like startron) but run the treated fuel through your engine. I don't recommend topping the fuel off until you've run down the old stuff- you'll only be diluting potentially bad gas.

lost reverse on '90 250 Yamaha

Does reverse feel really spongie? Wants to go in but won't?This happened to me about a month ago but I lost it at the mooring on a nice windy day! The plastic housing that the shift cable fits into vibrated loose off the side of the block. Thankfully the bolt fell down into the cowling and I was...

    Wash-down pump trouble-shooting tips...

Unfortunately, the pumps don't really give any warning when they are about to go. When mine failed, it worked on Tues. & was dead on Wed. Touch the leads directly to the battery, if it spins, you've got a wiring/fuse problem.
