    Live well motor

Seasick, Good call-seems blatantly obvious but I was out last nite and didn't put the plug in...but i assume the pogies still tasted good to the stripers. I felt like Jesus last night- there were so many pogies in the harbor you could have walked across the water on them.

    Grady or Mako?

Of course we're all gonna say get the GRADY but an old school mako 241, 251 has its loyal followers. If you're thinking about a Mako, I would suggest an older one-late 70's to mid 80's vintage...brick s**t houses. Be diligent and do your homework.

    Live well motor

CJ is right on this one. The Pro Baitmaster is designed for continuous use while the Pro Blaster is designed for short bursts. (the pro baitmaster is coincidently on sale @ West this month for $179-vs. reg. $229)

    Yahama Speedometer

Get a straitjacket- cause you're gonna go crazy trying to synch em'. It's the same on my 250 SWS II. 1.5-2 mph slower on the yami gauge.

fresh water hook up - 96 johnsone oceanrunner 225

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to start and run/rev engine to flush. The pressure from the hose will do it. Most people do it, I'm assuming, for psychological reasons-that the running engine is "working" but the household pressure will do the trick. Go to BW or WM, I believe they...

GW Islander 268 w/Evinrude Fichts????? Good or Bad??

Doing a little homework, i fould this thread http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m ... i_61555469 Basically, at low rpm's, there was a soot build-up b/c of a low flash point temp. That soot in turn absorbed lubricating oil. Stand corrected- not a sender issue but definately a lube issue.

    UPGRADING MY GPS-FISHFINDER-SOUNDER

It depends on the new unit (must be Garmin) and the # pin connection in the back. Garmin used to have a system that units that ended in "2" were the GPS and the units that ended in "8" were the GPS w/ sonar. A 198 is a 192 w/ sonar. If you find a later "8" unit (198, 298, 498) you may be able to...

GW Islander 268 w/Evinrude Fichts????? Good or Bad??

I wouldn't take a pair of FITCH's if you gave them to me, esp. pre-2000's. I coincidently was talking w/ my mechanic about FITCH's last night. They were rushed to market w/o proper testing and had inherent problems from the get-go, eventually putting OMC out of business. My buddie had a pair of...

2004,CC w/250 hpdi, engine in water

What size CC? Unless it's '20 or less, 250 is not too much power/too heavy. The bullet in the water is a pretty common issue. Adding 400 lbs. the the transom (2 men) will effect how ther boat sits in the water. A 225 & 250 2 stroke have the same block so the weight difference would be...

    1991 Grady 20 Center Console

Sounds like you have all your bases covered. Survey the boat- be there for it and ask questions. Have a tech look @ the engine and be sure to have more than just a compression test done (wire harnesses, pumps, hoses, clamps, etc.). Do not take delivery w/o a sea-trial.

    Looking at a 1988 2280 Cuddy Sport

If you can afford to go a couple years newer, I would suggest post '91 (92 & newer) b/c of the SeaV2 hull design. With that being said, the 228 is an awesome boat. I agree w/ Al, 10.4 seems a little strong but in this boating economy, he should work w/ you. BTW, I think you'll be disapointed...

    boat prop

PROPS There is a lot more to props than just propulsion. a 4 bladed prop is designed to reduce bow rise (your tabs will do that), but will comp. your top end speed ($$). Go to the Michigan Prop. website and you'll find some good info there. Seafarer 228, 250 SWS II w/ Michigan Ballistic 3...
