    1998 208 Fuel Tank

Is it somwhere in the 80g + range? That is going to be aluminum. It's very easy to check by opening sender access. There's absolutely no way to know if it's due for replacement (or if it already has been) with the info given. It'd just be a wild guess. Talk to the seller and/or inspect it.

Adding a full swim platform to a 2005 Grady 225 Tournament

IF you can still get that part, your dealer can check with Grady. But since it's 20 years old, the question is whether or not Grady still has the mold laying around to make it. Swim platforms dot com is a great company - check with them to see if they have already done this or can make it to...

Looking back at your picture again, removing the upper switch panel may work, as well.

    Cleaning white motor

Just as a side note, On&Off and muriatic acid both have hydrochloric acid in them as the main active ingredient but in different percentages. I believe muriatic has a slightly higher percentage of HCL in it? If memory serves, On&Off also has phosphoric acid in it - which is slightly less...

    Cleaning white motor

To follow up... what I mean by "used on & off" many times on motors is that I (and the shop) use it on about 200 engines every year... for the past few decades. We spray it on. There has NEVER been any issue to the paint nor anodes. Does it wear away the anodes slightly? Maybe - it makes...

    Cleaning white motor

Assuming this is the part of the engine that remains in the water? I use On&Off (hydrochloric) all the time on motors. No issues ever. You probably only need to mix it, at most, 50/50. If what you want to remove is only a stain, then something Iron Out will likely work.

    Voyager 248 (1996) windlass question

Based on the drainage holes it's safe to say that yes, the boat originally had an anchor locker. But just becasue someone added the windlass themselves, I don't know that that would clasify as a "hack job", though. Maybe it could have been done better? But don't assume that GW does a "neat"...

    For Sale Seafarer winter cover

Well, since in the post right before yours he said it was sold... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's not :)

    Gunnel Modification

Dream... I've never used a downrigger (so correct me if I'm wrong), but I thought there wasn't much load on a downrigger? I thought that once that big fish took bite that the hook snaps off the downrigger part, thereby alleviating the larger stress on the downrigger mounting? If that's true...

FYI... the original poster started this thread in 2020 and that was his/her first and only post ;)

    Adding a Windless Anchor

Along the lines of what Seasick mentioned about just having a pulpit and/or roller... that actually makes it quite a bit easier as you can stand straight up to pull the line in. Certainly easier than leaning over the railing. But... want to cheat and do it for free? Use the bow rail as your...

PROP size yamaha 250 2 stroke

Highlander, to be clear about what I said about fuel vs paint... I meant that it is not "guaranteed" to remove paint. In other words, having intact paint is not a definitive answer to whether or not fuel is leaking. It certainly COULD remove paint - but I've seen plenty of cases where it...

    Adding a Windless Anchor

FYI... "windlass" :) It's not cheap to install (between the windlass, wiring, anchor roller, etc) - and even more-so if you have to pay someone to do it. But, aside from that small fact, it's certainly a nice piece of equipment to have. -- Do you currently have a pulpit? -- If not, how much...

What size prop for my boat

The other thing to do is to reach out to Grady (the company)...it's "possible" that they have records going back that far. But we'd still be up against the issue of multiple previous owners and the outdrive may have been changed in that timeframe with a different gear ratio. Were you able to...

What size prop for my boat

Yes, then it is a Mercruiser not a Mercury. Mercury in the name used with the outboards. The outdrive is likely named what I mentioned, as well (Mercruiser is a given... it's more about which particular model OD you have).

What size prop for my boat

Can you better explain your engine? I "think" you're saying you have a sterndrive, right? That would then be a Mercruiser V6 engine with an Alpha outdrive. Assuming what I wrote is correct... It might be tough, though. There are different gear ratio outdrives and it could have been changed...

PROP size yamaha 250 2 stroke

AV... yes, in some cases it's wrongly referred to as an AC plate - even by the manufacturers. But as you (and other know), cavitation and ventilation are entirely different things. I've always been a prononent of "nicely" correcting people in posts so we use the correct terms. Seasick tends...

PROP size yamaha 250 2 stroke

Drill new holes? No. :) Paint showing errosion from gas? No. :) Wait till Spring? No. :) Take a look back at the advice given - there are a number of things you can do now. There should be zero, if any difference, in the fuel usage between those two engines. It's quite possible that...
