What year and model boat? Most did not come with hydraulic power steering assist.It was only an option on some of the bigger boats. That could be an autopilot pump.

The answer to you actual question is Perko. There were a couple different models of that rod holde that grady used. GW parts can definitely tell you the model number for your boat. A backing plate certainly can’t hurt. It may need trimmimg depending on how much room you have around it.

There is an "F" fuel filter that is most likely your culprit. Easy to swap out and cheap. It is located behind your intake manifold on the port side of the engine.
