Dead Battery, Replaced but no power to engine - Figured it Out on Sunday

I did the exact same mistake this spring at the ramp for the first time, missed the main engine ground cable that had fallen behind the battery. There are just to many ground wires attached to the battery on my 228 so I want to install a negative Blue Sea buss bar this winter. I just can’t...

What is the 226/228 True Length for Slip Fees?

I honestly wouldn’t consider the 226 with the open transom, the 228 is just so much safer and worth the extra length, unless you are on a small lake with the 226. My 2 cents …

    Inside Passage

It’s interesting that you mention Bremner Islet area as I saw a fishing show a few weeks ago and the host was hammering springs (kings) there. I have wondered how much of a run it would be past Pine Island? ie 30 minutes or so. I have fished Cape Sutil quite a bit, very productive especially...

    Inside Passage

Yes Pine Island is also the furthest I’ve ventured on the way to Rivers Inlet

    Inside Passage

That trip is on my bucket list. I would like to first try a trip to Rivers Inlet as a test as Cape Caution is a big hurdle just by itself. I have fished an hour north of Port Hardy numerous times but haven’t ventured further North.

    Source for stripes?

hullstripes.com is also an option but I believe there is a minimum of 50 ft orders, I only need about 12 or so feet of replacement stripes myself so haven’t ordered any

Who do you have your boat insured through?

My insurance company needed a recent survey before they would quote me insurance last year. I told them that I was only interested in the purchase/build value since it was a project boat. This is up in British Columbia, I guess they had too many scams in the past.

    WTB Grady White 208 Adventure

Mr MFH, you may have seen it but there is a 228 with a hardtop for sale on Seattle Craigslist Eastside, may be an option if the hardtop for the 208 is too expensive, not sure of your price range.

228 hardtop and aluminum frame for sale

Hey JJMag, did you install a new pod as well? I thought I could see part of it in one of pictures.

New Grady White 228 Seafarer owner with a couple of questions...

That picture was taken in July 2020 when we stayed at Critter Cove in Nootka Sound as our regular cabin was not available due to COVID restrictions by the owners. We were invited back to our regular floating cabin this year which was less busy and a bit quieter than Critter Cove.

Here’s a picture of my downrigger mounting configuration with aluminum backing plates for support under the gunwales. Plugs are mounted under the gunwale near where the top aft road holder is located.

    208 trailer

Wow my boat insurance is over double that amount up here in Canada on a declared/surveyed value of just over $50,000 Canadian on my 228 Seafarer. I guess I need to shop around to see if I can get a better rate somewhere else.

Finally a Grady White owner and finally got her back home safely...

Congrats on the 228, you are going to love it. I was polishing mine this summer and saw the ghost numbers from the previous registration decals to find out that it was in North Carolina at one time. Makes we wonder how it ended up in Vancouver BC where I bought it and if there’s a long distance...

Live well ball valve on a 228

Man is that slick, I fabricated some rods to replace mine last year as they were toast, but these look much better.

Upgrade to hydraulic or electric steering systems

Hydraulic steering is a great upgrade from cable steering on it’s own as there are just so many advantages. I did the upgrade years ago on my previous Campion and it was awesome, well worth the price and a great selling feature.

    Fuel tank alteration

Interesting as I also fish Nootka Sound for 4 days every July and usually top my fuel off at Critter Cove, it’s a little more expensive than in town but saves a bunch of weight in the main stern tank. It’s always a trade off I guess.

    Fuel tank alteration

Hi Bob, I have 1999 228 Seafarer that I put a 2012 Suzuki DF250 on last year. I have the same fuel tank setup as you but I have decided to run and fuel the front 56 gallon tank only for the same reason as you mention. I really don’t need the extra fuel capacity of the 92 gallon main tank for...

My New Soon To Be Fishing Partner

I have 2 adult daughters now that fished with me their entire lives, one is now a Federal Fishery Officer here in British Columbia and my youngest is a Veterinarian that spent 7 chilly winters in Saskatoon at University. Hopefully there will be more grandchildren in my Seafarer in a few years...

    New boat shopping

2 footitis and 4 footitis are just terms to describe that the person is looking to get either a 2 foot or 4 foot longer boat than the one they currently have. All fun.
