    Deck piece

Is the "deck" surface OK? It's fairly straightforward to rebuild it as long as the top is intact. It's flat, so you need a proper work surface, but I used 5/8" foam instead of plywood to rebuild mine. It's lighter than stock and will last forever. Take a look at post 11 in this thread for...

    List to Starboard under power

Great. On a roll. Now what is your WOT RPM trimmed up to neutral position?

Question about buying a GW 228 seafarer with a 225 Yamaha

I bought two 2005 F225s last winter, and after some "delayed" maintenance they are very reliable. I also bought a $50 borescope and spent a good while checking them out. No corrosion to speak of. Fact of the matter is many Yamahas have had a corroded dry exhaust collector, but it's a small...

Looks Like I'm the Newest Member to the Club-Transom Restoration Begins

From what I read, a lot of guys open up the transom for removal of the rot and then close it back up prior to filling. Stinging the "pourable" products like concrete in a form (with a DA sander or something like that) is supposed to do a good job of distributing it. I guess some of them can be...

Looks Like I'm the Newest Member to the Club-Transom Restoration Begins

Boat is rated for 500hp, at least the 1998 is. Mine with heavy old 2005 F225s has all the power it would ever need. I was wondering if any of the "pourable" products would make an appearance. Those seem really appealing. (I too will probably be doing this job in the next year or two...)...

    Thoughts on canvas cost?

You definitely need a "decent" sewing machine if you are going to use Isinglass. I used a cheap Singer to make all of the canvas pieces, but once I started in on the windows penetrating that material was a show stopper. Hello Sailrite machine. Still cost a fraction of what hiring the job out...

    GW Fuel tanks

Yeah, sounds like maybe ball park of $2+K + cross country shipping. Probably not happening. If I have to "get small" and go inside them myself that's what I'll do. Actually I could fabricate them myself for a fraction of that, and by the time I finished I would be far better at welding...

    GW Fuel tanks

My problem is that they were full of crud, and even though I vacuumed them out pretty well last year I am not confident that they are completely clean - I am cleaning my VST filters too often. I have not seen the bottoms, but the tops were extremely dirty when I pulled the hatches last year...

    GW Fuel tanks

Thanks. I promise not to blow myself up. By the time they get welded they would be spotless inside. My early though is to cut a fair sized hole in the tops to facilitate scrubbing / cleaning, but I still kind of suck at TIG and that might require a back purge for which I'm not yet set up. If...

    GW Fuel tanks

Great. Thanks guys. Yeah aluminum. I was hoping for stainless cuz I find it much easier to weld.

    GW Fuel tanks

I can't remember whether my fuel tanks are stainless or aluminum. 1998 Sailfish. I can pull a hatch next time I'm on the boat, but does anyone know off the top of their head? Thank you.

    272 20' Outrigger Hardware

Updating this one since the US/Canada border is now selectively open. If you are still looking, please reply or PM me. Not very interested in shipping. That was probably not a great idea to begin with given the size.

    Stripes

Razor blade and heat gun, then it was ready for rubbing compound on the wool pad with the rest of the hull. Took a few hours. I was very happy with hullstripes.com. Reasonable pricing...

Local Grady White Dealer will not work on my Outboard

I have sets of rebuilt Bosch injectors from eBay on both of mine - $5/cylinder - and have at least 70 hours on them now without trouble. Cleaning the VST is different - I get to do that more frequently. 8^/ I have heard some guys say that they had a bad experience with them, but I have not...

Just curious, MPG (or GPM) on a Marlin w/ twin Yamaha 300s?

Yes, @luckydude, I too had a 226 and the step up to the 272 was NIGHT AND DAY!

    208 Adventure Top end

Yes - whole bunch of reasons this cold be happening. Common is VST filter needs a cleaning, but there is also the shift switch under the cowl that will start to short cylinders if it is malfunctioning. You will need to do some detective work. If you had YDS it might tell you right off the bat...

    No top end power

Wouldn’t you know that it was a fuel delivery issue at that point? That would rule out an awful lot of other causes I would think. But I’m just learning.

Stupid thread but here it is

I’m going to chime in with agreement that it is a lot nicer place to post. Doesn’t quite have that THT saltiness does it? In general I do fine over there Topside, but I don’t think I made many friends in the bilge LOL!
