Yamaha Trim / Tilt Hydraulic Pipe sourcing / repair

Those can be a pain the the A$$. I actually BENT a Craftsman professional 10mm end wrench trying to loose mine then I first got into restoring the boat. Now it's a 10.65mm. :) Glad you got it sorted!

    Grady 27/28 sailfish owners...

I went from a 226 to a 272 and as noted by others above, the difference is night and day. The 272 is far more tolerant of chop and a far far smoother more gentle ride. It also feels "lighter" at the same time during hole shot and speed runs due to the higher power to weight ratio.

    fresh water pump

The pump should only run momentarily and then stop until you use water. I think you have already figured out that you have leak or failed connection or something, so there really isn't any option other than to hunt it down... The only other thing that comes to mind is that maybe there is...

Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

Actually my 226 showed up with a prop that wasn’t too different from what you’re running. It was steel, but it was black and it had really flat blades. Pop slippage calculator showed Very high slippage. Turned a ton of RPM without ever really biting and Ate a bunch of gas. The four blade...

Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

Aluminum isn’t magnetic, but neither is stainless steel. Yours looks painted. In fairness I’ve never checked to see if my propellers are magnetic, but I’ve definitely identified stainless vs regular steel. Interesting...

Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

I ran a 4 blade 17" Powertech offshore on mine - 226 / 225 Yamaha SWSII. It may have been a slightly lighter boat, but the performance was much better than what you guys are posting. If you are both hitting 6100, then another inch of pitch will probably make things better. FWIW... EDIT - those...

Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

"Also, I hit 6000-6100 at wide open. I just don't stay on plane unless 4800. I do 38mph at 6K rpm" Ah. I must have misunderstood your OP. That sort of makes it sound like you could be underpropped. Do you have a sense that you are hitting your ECU rev limiter? i.e. there is more throttle left...

Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

"This thing has to be at like 4800rpm to stay on plane and only goes 20mph" There's something majorly wrong. It should do 40 mph +/- and you need to be closer to 6000 rpm at WOT. 4800 signifies an issue, IMO. (reference, my 226 w/225 did 43-4 mph @ 58-6000). How clean is the bottom of the...

    Auto pilot and connected main/kicker?

Good point about the water conditions. There were days that the TR-1 could not keep up with the weather, and required constant correction. But that was not the norm - only a few times.

Penetrating epoxy into freshwater hatch help

I did mine, and strongly recommend using foam core from your local fiberglass supply place rather than plywood. Saves weight, adds strength, and lasts longer (I hope).
