    intermittent complete power loss

I had this exact issue occur on my other boat, it turned out to be a post connection that vibrated loose in the rough seas. Tightened up and not an issue since, drove me nuts searching for a week solid.

Where do i find out about radar?

my radar is 14, it's a similar model from Raymarine. I had my electronics guy look at it while he did my AP install and he said not to touch it, even though he'd have loved to sell me a new unit. According to him you can't kill them, and just because one is new doesn't make it 'better'. It's...

    New Grady Owner!

All good info, in order to do the water pump they have to drop the lower, when you drop the lower you get a nice look up inside the exhaust housing, so it's kind of a 2 for 1 there. You can't see every inch of it, but enough to tell if you have an issue in a motor of that vintage. As others have...

    Real Repower Cost, Twin 250's

If you do, sounds like you don't, like the boat I'd run the current motors. I have 2K hours on my 20 year old f225's with routine maintenance and a minor repair here or there. My mid-sections were done prior to my ownership, but I have records. From a dollars and cents perspective unless they...

    Hull Logo

I ditched the wheel, it was leaving marks, and even the 3M one which i was able to borrow. I heated the striping up with a heat gun then peeled it off, actually wasn't too bad. Brake cleaner worked well for the glue, recommended to me by a guy at my old marina. The old crusty glue was harder to...

    Big girls!

I suspect folks are either doing pre-season CnR trolling or light tackle jigging at CCNPP. I haven't gone out yet but i know guys that have and have done alright, at the aforementioned discharge. Wind and personal commitments have kept me on the lift, maybe mess around with some cats in April...

    282 Sailfish repower

Mleads is on point, those numbers aren't too shabby. Takes a lot of running/gas/oil to recoup the cost of a repower. I can get to 30 statute mph at right around 37-3800 RPM depending on load, burn is usually 15-16 gph in a relatively modest sea state. It is bottom painted but very clean, lift...

    Hull Logo

I changed over to the new version, replaced rub rail with black, did the canvas as creme, replaced the logo and striping to Grady current, which luckily for me was all in stock last year. All of these components were worn out and then some with my boat so it was either tracking down old...

    282 Sailfish repower

No issue with weight, if you want to see how she'll sit it the water go sit on the motors when she's in the water, not saying you weigh 242 but my point is that i doubt the boat notices much. I have 2002 F225's on my 2002 Sailfish, I don't believe the weight is much different from those to the...

We've all dealt with surprises at one point or another, boats... Keep us updated, I'm not far from you either, Edgewater.

Locate part# aft bench seat tray

I don't, but I do have one on my '02 282. My suggestion would be to call your local Grady dealer, they may be able to direct you to whoever made it for them. It's specific to the boat, so not sure anyone would have a replacement since our version of the 282 model is long gone by now, and the...

    Keeping cubby door open?

I had the same on my 228, and I have the same on my 282. The straps with the twist locks. Works great.

    Bilge pump discharge routing?

On my '02 the aft pump heads to the port side, thru hull access looks to be combo of removing that sink and/or the selector switch panel. My hose is in great shape so I'm not removing any time soon, but that looks to be the method.

    Weather stripping in aft cockpit

I have a big spool of it in my garage, minimum order quantity was quite a bit, Barbour was who I used. I did the cockpit last season, i plan to do the mid-berth this spring. Make sure you get it warm and clean the area thoroughly, it tends to pull off in the corners. Unrelated, i did the same...

    1996 272 Sailfish running F 225’s

I'll add one other comment on the F225's, I do have a pair on my 282. They are 2002 motors, the exhausts were done back in 2016, at that point I think the repair was a bit cheaper, but not much, still have the service records from the P.O. They are 2,000 hours young and counting.

    LED Lightbar question

Good to know. Unfortunately for me the prior owner put it on and we never tested it during sea trials as it was always during the day. First time I clicked it on I was utterly blinded by the light from the railing. It's essentially useless at it's installed for me. I am going to fashion a...

    1996 272 Sailfish running F 225’s

If you've not researched the older F225's make sure you are aware of the exhaust corrosion issues. It affected the generation from 2001, when the motor was introduced, to roughly 2005/6, though the definitive end seems to be a bit murky. I've seen mid-90's 272's repowered with 4's all over the...

    Express 330 with 300s?

When I was looking to move up to the 330 from my 282 I was really searching to 300 powered boats, the C series engines were out of my price range if i was to remain married. There aren't nearly as many out there with the 300's, at least in my area. I didn't want to deal with the flywheels or...
