    1st Sail!

Congrats! I first thought this was about a maiden voyage, but it was much better than that.

    Towing a 1990 seafarer 228g

Not without trailer brakes, period, end of discussion. Don't put your, and others, lives at risk by doing otherwise. As Luckydude says it's the stopping not the pulling that is important. Regarding, it's only a few miles, most accidents happen within only a few feet.

Transom Rebuild - The Saga Begins

I'm looking forward to watching this unfold. (Better to unfold in the shop than on the water, I'd say...)

Salty dogs and why I love this forum

Get a bow mount trolling motor, that will do the job.

Salty dogs and why I love this forum

I have to echo what people are saying on this thread, I have had few interactions via PM on this board and they have all been positive. LD and I share a heritage, and as a result I knew exactly what he meant by " And fair warning, I can be a bit of a pain in the ass. ", and hey, that's...

    trailer springs

Go to a suspension/spring shop and they would be able to get you sorted. Near where I live these guys do just about everyone's work. http://www.pyett.ca/

2001 Sailfish Transom - How to Access for Rebuild?

I'd go with the Coosa. I've never worked with it so I have no first hand experience to pass on. There is a very good fiberglass forum on Scream and Fly, and restoration forum on Bass Boat Central. Lots of knowledge to pick from.

2001 Sailfish Transom - How to Access for Rebuild?

Tough job, eh? When you are done getting the wood out, I would suggest using a wire wheel on the inside skin to rough it up prior to "peanut buttering" the new transom in. That will give the resin more surface to bind to. As well, I would suggest that you layout and drill out any penetrations...

    Transom Mount Crack

Based on the rust bleed, I would suggest the transom has gone the way of all flesh and will need replacing. Talk to a surveyor for a much more reliable opinion, though.

How many folks here have met in person?

OK, so who is who? I'm new to the forum so I do not know anyone yet. As well, where I live there are not many Grady's, but I am continuing the search. Having the border closed makes it more challenging as well.

    Your Closest Call?

I posted this on another board. This occurred on Lake Erie offshore of Dunville Ontario in an 18' aluminum bowrider: Well, I had a day today... Started out by the fingers trolling for walleye, no love. *Sigh* Decided to head out to Tecumseh Reef for some bass. Went to a spot that a very kind...

Headed out tomorrow, who wants to come?

Seeing as how it's a 40 hour drive and I have to cross a closed border to do it, it may be awhile before I can take you up on the invite. That being said, I will definitely let you know if I'm ever in the area.

Headed out tomorrow, who wants to come?

Looks like a great day on the water. If I am ever out your way, I'm inviting myself along.

    Roller or Bunk Trailer?

My inclination would be bunks, more even weight distribution, and not as much chance of accidental offload on a steep ramp.
