Look nice, another option is to mount tracks along the gunnel and then you can add or subtract as you need them. You will also be able to place them where you need them most often. You can then remove the rod holders when not required. Look at cisco fishing products, great quality, and service.

My GIL bracket leaked from the top and I replaced it with a compression plate from Armstrong who Grady uses on their new boats. Armstrong will make you a new bracket, check out their website, very nice products.

Make sure you use backing plates if mounted on a track.

I run Big Jon riggers on my 232, make sure you installed backing plates when you mounted your riggers. You should also consider using a rubber snubber between the cable and the ball to act as a shock absorber, that will lessen the bounce.

Why not add a track to the top of the gunnel and then you can add any rod holder you want. Cisco Fishing from Ohio makes great ones, so does Cannon.

Was it a salt water motor of fresh water? My 2004 225 has been in fresh water since new and no issues.

With your boat the 8HP High Thrust should be all you need. I have that motor on my Gulfstream and we troll with it on Lake Michigan for salmon and it works great. It is enough HP for your requirements and save a few bucks.

Well after two days in the water my top deck plate leaked water and completely filled my bracket. I have decided to enlarge my 4 inch hole to a 6.75 inch hole and purchase an Armstrong compression deck plate. Hopefully cutting the new hole will go smoothly. I plan to drill a series of holes...

I made this tackle storage unit for the top bunk of my 232. I can store up to 25 plano boxes. Some of the slots are for large boxes or for the storage of two.
