    Marlin DSM 300 location

I know mine is a 228, not a marlin but I looked for quite awhile before I found it. It was in the space beside the foot rest in front of the helm seat.

222 won't track straight at low rpms

I have learned how to deal with it. When the boat heads starboard turn a little to port, and when she just starts to turn to port, turn a little to starboard. Just small movements of the wheel is all it takes it takes. At first I would make big turns of the wheel and zig zagged all over the...

    Trim tabs Overnighter.

I had a 2003 208 with 200 hpdi and a 2005 with F200 and I don't think one could run the boat without tabs. The one with the F200 would porpoise if I didn't add a little tab even in calm conditions and it was balanced for the 4 stroke. My crowd seems to move around every couple of minutes also. I...

Salt water washdown and fresh water tank

When you find out let me know, my '05 Seafarer raw wash down does the same thing. Good power on the switch but I think it is the pump. I have not taken the time to troubleshoot the thing yet. it turns on about 1 out of 10 times.

I guess you are correct, outboards don't have air filters.

There are 4 things that make a motor work: spark, fuel, compression, and air. If you are missing one she won't run.

Look what I am bringing home!

The family and I traveled to Morehead City, NC and am bringing back a 228g with F250. It is a much much larger boat than my 208. The only problem is that the wind has been blowing 20-30mpg all week, all day and all night. Seas 3-5 ft and even the sound is rough. I have put about 30 hrs on her...

    Just purchased a 228 !!!

Since we come to Morehead every year it was no big deal purchasing ours. Did you get yours out of Charleston? Now if this dang wind would lay down. SSW 15-30 mph every day this week. Seas 3-5 feet.

    Just purchased a 228 !!!

It's funny, I just purchased a 228 with F250 also. I'm from SC and bought in NC and you're in NC and bought in SC. I was with with the former owner last Sunday and he got a call from someone in the 252 area code wanting to know if he had sold the boat. Might have been you. Now if anyone wants a...

Trailer choices ( old question I guess )

I am located very close to Wesco, Columbia, SC and they are a first class operation and stand behind their products. They sell a lot of trailers to the different dealers and they have rebuilt trailers for me in the past (not always Wesco). I vote for them. http://www.wescotrailers.net/

    The Saga of the Trailer

Did you check with Wesco, here in West Columbia, SC? I would be surprised if they did not have one since they build them. Sorry, Wesco does not sell to the general public.

    Considering moving up

Smokey-Mtn I am not so concerned about trailering, I was wondering if there is a noticeable difference in the interior, more room, cabin bigger? Does it ride that much better? I am trying to decide if 2 ft is worth the cost and trouble of selling my 208 and buying the 228. I really like our 208...

    Considering moving up

I am also looking at a 228G and have a 208. I might be crazy since it is mainly the wife and I but I found a nice one with a F250 4 stroke. How much bigger is the 228G than the 208? I know it is 2 feet but the bracket really opens up the boat. I run mainly at the coast and want to do more...
