I am positive that you were not implying I should fire up the buddy heater while working on the gas tank.

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Sounds tempting! Honestly, I'd love to be able to do this myself and have that kind of a set up (Although messing with a buddy heater and a gas tank under shrink wrap scares me! lol I am thinking piece of mind though BUT I'd also like to see what kind of costs I would be running into first. I...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Ouch.. I didn't know that. I was under the impression that it was suggested that just idle the motor under the flush mount. Well, now I know - luckily I don't do it often and I also change the impeller. As for the floor panel, I can tell ya that it's been pulled within the last decade. :-)...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

I was going to leave it dry for now - and with the suggestion from Dennis, get a portable tank and use that to a) Make sure the motor is still in good shape and It didn't get damaged and then from there, fog the engine and drop the lower unit oil (and the impeller was my plan too!) From there...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Ohh, oops.. I already started siphoning the gas (water) out of the tank, I am down to just under a half now. Filling it up with more water, it would take me 2 weeks to get it out of there and disposed of. I want to make sure there is no water in that tank when the freezing temps come along. I...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

OK.. got to take a look yesterday - without removing the floor panel, I took off the sending unit - which is working, I had hoped it was just not working properly. Gas Tank is full of water. So now I am going to get that water out of there. Dennis, great idea, I will have to run down to West...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

ahhh, okay, so the primer will get the fuel to the VST. Great! Thanks for this info, very helpful! Yeah I hate those crinkle hoses, I don't use them. The Yamaha has that inline connection right to the engine that I like to use instead of the muffs. I feel like the water flows through the...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

I wanted to pull up the floor board so I can get a good look at the tank and the fuel lines for any indication on how the water got in the tank. Oddly too, the access plate will get me to the unit but two the of the screws were really hard to get at - the sending unit isn't centered underneath...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Yeah, I don't know how the water got into the tank yet.. or into the fuel lines - haven't got that far into my "investigation" of everything. But I do know that the gas tank was pretty much submerged in water at some point. Once I am able to remove the floor board and then the sending unit I...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Thanks, Seasick - I think I have to pull the sending unit to really get a good look at what is in the tank at this point. I was very low on fuel to start with, or at least as far as the sending unit was telling me at the gauge. I'll start with pumping what's in there - I'll ask again here too...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

I honestly don't know how all that water got into the tank...or into the fuel filters. As for the bilge, well - the bilge works when I turn it on at the dash, but upon my investigation, it seems that float switch failed because when I lift it up, it does not kick the pump on. Boats already on...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Ohh.. really.. what is that paste called? (Local fuel distributor, I am sure you don't mean a gas station?) Ohh.. never mind, found it on google & Amazon. That's interesting, good to know - thank you!

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Thanks, Dennis! I am just going to get rid of it all, clear the whole tank out, replace the sender unit too since I will have to remove it to pump out the gas. is there an electric pump I can use or should I use a hand syphon? Would using an electric anything be less than a wise idea around...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

And here is the VST - finally some gas but a lot of water came out first, then the gas came (with some muck). Is this a good sign or not out of the woods yet? I still don't know if the tank is filled with water or not.. - maybe disconnecting the primer bulb hose from the system and pumping...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Okay, I haven't got to the VST yet (still confirming where that bleed screw is) but as far as the inline fuel filter and water separator goes - see nothing BUT water... - after dropping the water out of those two, I tuned the key on (did not crank the engine) and the alarm does not sound off...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Hey Dennis -yeah sorry, it's an '89 Tournament. The tank is aluminum. I changed the sender about 5 years ago, I hope there aren't any hoes on top of the tank? I don't recall seeing any last time I was in there. Yeah, my next step is checking the water separator, gas filter and drain the VST...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Hey call, I hope everyone is doing good here! It's been awhile. Apparently my bilge pump did not work during this last storm in Norther NJ. So today I just went to do my routine, check on the boat after a storm and found that the bilge was complexly over flowing and I had about 2-4 inches of...

    Yamaha grinding into Gear

Thanks everyone for easing my mind. I am going to do that check on the shifter cable that Hookup1 mentioned and then forget about it - change the oil, gas filters and drop it in. Thanks! The advice is much appreciated!

    Yamaha grinding into Gear

ha! I like your thinking seasick! You might be right too! I let the motor run for a good 10 minutes this time before shifting it. into gear. It sounded better? The crunch is gone (I wish I recorded it the first time) But there is still a bit a clunk.. I understand it should clunk into gear...
