    Yamaha grinding into Gear

Thanks for the responses seasick and Rose! I did change the lower unit oil before the lay up and no metal shavings at all in the oil so I know everything was fine before the winter. I am going to go back and let the engine run a. it longer and idle down and then check shifting into gear to...

    Yamaha grinding into Gear

Hey there! I have a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke - before I wintertized, the motor was fine but as I am unwrapping and checking everything out before dropping her in, I started the engine and thenI did put it into gear (did not race the RPM, just popped it out of neutral) and as I did so, it grinned...

Looking to repower 1987 Tournament 192. Thoughts?

I repowered my 89 Tournament with a new 150 Yamaha. Best thing I ever did with my boat. Also, considering the recent news about E-Tec stopping production, I'd stay away from E-tech. I am glad I did 5 years ago when I was debating 4 stroke or E-Tec.

    Goodbye ETEC

wow, interesting and very surprising, to me at least. I am glad I went with the 4 stroke Yam over the E-Tec when I repowered 5 years ago.

    Loss of Steering

ahhhh.. just what I was looking for.. I could not find it all afternoon online. Just ordered a 12x12 x1/8 piece for 6.99. I ordered black so it will match the bezel. Well, got to wait until Sunday now.. Thanks, Skunk!

    Loss of Steering

Yeah but I am finding out that starboard minimum thickness is 1/4" - I was hoping for something smaller like an 1/8th". I did find a cutting board that is 0.13 thick but I am hoping tat the plastic will hold up on me.

    Loss of Steering

I found some cutting boards a Target that are 0.13 inches thick... white plastic.. is that good enough? Or should it be starboard or something more marine like...

    Loss of Steering

Can ya get a thin cutting board at Walmart and will it stand the UV elements like starboard does? Starboard thickness is 1/4" minimum on thickness, I was hoping for an 1/8th".

    Loss of Steering

Yeah, I am still going to drill through the dash, the plate is mostly for aesthetics, covering up the 4 holes, etc.

Stainless steel... where would I find that? Would I be able to get a piece with about an 1/8th" thickness..

K2, Is there something else I could use other than starboard for a new plate?

    Loss of Steering

Hey there - I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend! So I finally got all my parts for this but before I ut everything back together, I have some cosmetic repair to do. As expected, the new bezel does not line up with the holes from the old bezel and of course does not cover them. So I am...

    Water in the gasoline

Condensation buildup - assuming the boat was sitting there for awhile. How much water was there?

    Loss of Steering

Yeah wow! That's it! Seastar also called me back this morning and I explained what I had and he confirmed it was the Big T model. But I have already ordered a new helm and went with the no feedback system - which yeah, I am going to have to change the bezel and mounting hardware. Which gladly...

    Loss of Steering

Might have to research this more.. the telefax model doesn't appear to have the same mounting option that I currently have.. It doesn't look like any of the Seastar models have what I took off... I had 4 screws in a square pattern - anything and everything I see is 3 screws in a triangular...

    Loss of Steering

A woodruff, key.. wow! Okay, I whacked that little guy. Now on the helm, no part numbest at all on there. On the steering cable, also no part number but it does say Made By Teleflex Marine, USA. So I think I am going to go with the Teleflex NFB 4.2 helm... Thanks everyone - I'll let you...

    Loss of Steering

I see what you did there! ha! Okay, got the steering wheel off, much easier that I expected but the helm itself, still unsure of how to get that out from behind the console. I had to take apart a housing off of the helm to get the part out but I still have the housing stuck back there. So now...

    Loss of Steering

Yeah I came across the NFB 4.2 during my searches this morning but I have to make sure it's the correct one. (I don't think I have a tilt mechanism? If I do, it sure doesn't or hasn't ever worked - lol) yes, I did see a video of pulling the wheel off without a puller.. assuming I do not have...
