    Need advice Please 1995 208

Why the Sv2 design? Is it the construction of the stringers that they used that makes it better? A better V-Hull ride? For example, if I were looking for a boat, would the lack of a Sv2 be a make or break the deal situation? Just curious for my own knowledge of it all. Tony D.

    Journeyman:

Since we are on the topic of Marlins - how is the boat? My wife and I have been thinking of upgrading from our '89 Tournament to something bigger (and with sleeping/cuddy options) and I found this '90 Marlin for sale. Although from the pictures it looks like it needs a little TLC, I was...

    192 tournament

I would definitely recommend a surveyor before you buy. You should be able to find one, try a google search in the area where the boat is. If you are buying from a marina or dealer make sure you bring in your own surveyor and that the surveyor is working for you. That said, I thoroughly enjoy...

    1988 Tournament 19 story

Wow, you sold it in 1 day? I have an '89 Tourney - but I had it repowered with a brand new Yam 4 stroke 150. The hull can use some esthetic help though ... your boat looked to be in very nice condition. Tony D.

Finally, a Grady White to call mine.

    Gas gauge not working

Yeah, I just started a thread about this very same topic. Just search around the forum - I also found a lot of my research on the internet. WemaUSA also has a great "Tech" page too. Like Dennis said, you need to troubleshoot the issue. Is it your sending unit? Your gauge? Maybe just a bad...

    Where is my sending unit?

Just updating this . My sending unit arrived. I wired it directly to the gauge and wonderfully, it worked! I then wired it at the gas tank, with the wires that are running up the boat to the helm to the gauge (where the old unit was connected to) - and that too worked! I am glad that my hunch...

Negotiation - how much to offer?

I bought my 1st boat for $800 with a trailer. Although it was a 14' aluminum Starcraft. :D Then I moved up to my 89' Grady Tournament that I bought from Somers Point, NJ for my 2nd boat and have had her for about 13 years now and still putting work into her. Tony D.

    Where is my sending unit?

Hey, Willy - I had sealed up the cover about 3 year ago, so I know it will come up rather easily - but, I just did it 3 years ago. haha! I also just didn't want to do all that if the unit was indeed "good", making extra un-needed work for myself. That all said, I don't know if the unit is good...

    Where is my sending unit?

Hey, Dennis.. yeah everything was "on".. key turned, battery switch on, etc. Denko, not getting any reading at all, on the meter for ohm's. Part of my issue with this sending unit, there are no posts on the unit, everything is all internal nothing as simple as disconnecting the wire.- so I had...

    Where is my sending unit?

So, I got to the sending unit - of course nothing is easy :-) Anyway, that wire I thought was white, when I look at it on an overcast day, and wipe the grim away - it really IS pink! So, now I have the sending unit out of the tank but all of my tests are leaving me scratching my head. First...

    Gas tank deck cap

I'd go with the foam - I used Divinycell

    Where is my sending unit?

Yeah, of all that I have been reading it should be pink but there is nothing pink coming off of this sender. Actually, there are 3 wires - the white, a black and then the green ties into them and them runs down onto a ground onto the tank. I'l take a picture tomorrow when I have sunlight. And...

    Where is my sending unit?

Thanks guys! So, I was able to find the wires going back to the gauge ...it looks like I have a white wire and a green wire.. the green wire is grounded to the gas tank way underneath. The green and a white travel through a harness all the way up to the helm. Underneath the helm I can see...

    Gas tank deck cap

mmiela, at one point a few years ago, Dennis walked me through an entire thread of how to do mine - you can do a search off of either one of us and find all the details. Dennis did a much nicer aesthetic job than I did (because I made a few rookie mistakes) but he floor panel is rock solid now...

    Gas tank deck cap

Are you talking about the hard plastic deck cap? Or the whole floor board?
  19. TonyD

    Where is my sending unit?

Thank you, Denko for the confirmation. I'd really have to pull up the floor board to see where that wire runs (and even then I might not be able to tell). As it is now, I can't really tell, which is a bummer, because all I want to do is test it - ha! Does anyone know of another way of testing...

1991 Seafarer 228g-Should stern/scuppers be so low in water

Re: 1991 Seafarer 228g-Should stern/scuppers be so low in wa I have an '89 Tournament and my scuppers sit well below the waterline. I also replaced the original scuppers with the one with the ball in them? Not all the time but I will get water inside the boat. The original ones, I would get...
