    300 Marlin

There is a possibility I may sell my Marlin based on outcome of purchase of a larger boat. Details of which are fluid at this point in time. So this is a heads up in the event I move into a new venture. It’s a 2007 with twin 250 Yamaha’s 670 hrs aprox. Generator less than 50hrs. Bow Thruster...

Transom Rebuild - follow my journey

Whoops my bad … thought we were talking Marlin. In that case (282) the 250’s would be plenty

Transom Rebuild - follow my journey

I seem to recall the performance numbers with the 350’s were the best , mileage and rpms/speed etc. However they are no longer available. Assuredly the 300’ s will outperform the 250’s somewhat. Just is the added cost worth it ? Maybe

Transom Rebuild - follow my journey

" If I buy another, I'd make my best deal and then want $10K additional at the end off so I could immediately have the transom redone before it went in the water". My thoughts exactly !! I like the boat too. Cost to correct it would be much less, I suppose if done prior to moisture...

Mostly noticeable in the area between the motors along the the aluminum angle. Instead of a 90 deg angle the aluminum is bulged out (swollen)on the downside

Transom Rebuild - follow my journey

… I knew full well what to expect when going the used route and when the day comes , I’ll suck it up and drop the 10k too, which beats the crap out of the cost of a new boat. Educated buyers should think long and hard before buying a new boat with an inherent flaw such as this. Most...

Transom Rebuild - follow my journey

…. Meanwhile in Greenville NC the scientists at R&D have changed nothing in the transom design other than using a plastic cap vs the aluminum one. Blows my mind

    Bolster and Seat Recover

… you know we could probably install the pedestal at the full 12” and see what sight line looks like then cut it down. Although 12” is most likely too high it never hurts to sneak up on the height that works for you. The other thing is you’ll have to cut the locking hole or slot to keep the...

    Bolster and Seat Recover

I hadn't seen this thread and the pictures Fish ... Looks real good. How did you like that Llebroc ? I cut my fixed pedestal @ 9" for the portside chair and vis is great there (guys fight over who gets that seat). I need to put a fixed pedestal on the helm side this winter (get rid of the...

    WTB GradyWhite 290 Cheasapeake-

No Sweat !! A bow thruster should make you look like a pro !! Quick story though ... we were fueling up one afternoon at the dock when some guys came in with a brand new triple outboard Whaler with bow thruster. He was all over the place trying to lay it against the fuel dock (not a slip)...

    Marine survey

Most experienced surveyors will use a combination of tools (moisture meter(s) ) and a phenolic hammer to verify any high moisture readings. Some transoms can be tricky to read. However if it is swolt, it's wet. Some can be wet, but not rotted .... yet.

    MSRP Discount in today’s economy?

Reality check is pulling in the station now. If financing is not one of your contingencies for buying you will be in the driver's seat, both new and used.

    Cockpit Scupper Access

I saw where someone cut access in the deck just outside the tuna door and installed a plate ( that wouldn't be my first choice)

Transom Rebuild - follow my journey

Good luck with your project. I know I'll be looking at going down this road someday too. Does anyone know if the Scientist at GW are going to change over to encapsulating this edge in glass or they still going with the plastic cap ??

transom cap on a marlin 30

I think when the time comes to do mine I will have it fully glassed over and documented with pictures ... then have the vinyl cap glued on so the next guy who buys it feels like everything is as factory specs should be ...(sarcasm)
