Dave's Trailer Sales warning! Glen Burnie, MD

I think a 282 Sailfish is about 10,000lb on the trailer - no way that tongue is designed for 1000lb, plus there looks like some load on the bow stand as well - seems to be too delicate a trailer by far? Any chance this is the 9625lb version (the lightest of the triple axel Vantage models) - if...

Re powering an old Grady .

Problem is, your roof simply isn't big enough to generate any useful power - other than to slowly recharge some batteries. 100HP is 75,000watts - a typical 5'x3' solar panel at best generates 300w so you'd need 250 panels to run your outboard assuming no losses. A few HP, sure - enough to...

Re powering an old Grady .

27 nautical miles a day averaging ~3kt. Charles Hedrich rowed twice across the Atlantic and averaged 40 nm per day Powerbars > solar.

Re powering an old Grady .

Lol - indeed you would. That's what worries me about electric drive on boats - long term insulation of the high voltage systems.

Re powering an old Grady .

Higher voltage carries the same power at lower current - there's no wire which can carry current without melting. The eMotion drive is about 140kw. That's 11,000amps at 12v, or 230amps at 600v

    Cockpit heat ideas 208 Adventure

You meant Carbon Dioxide. Carbon monoxide is only created during incomplete combustion, which is why (working) propane heaters don't need to be vented, and natural gas ones do.

Re powering an old Grady .

Go for it! I think it’s a great idea and will prove out the technology. I think you simply need two e-Motion 180hp units. $79,000 each including 60kva of battery and controls...

new Grady quick connect engine flush

Garden quick-connects have check valves as well? One other thing I recommend is a simple mechanical irrigation timer. Just plug the hose in, set it for 15min and walk away...

    Repair or replace transom?

Meh - I would bolt a piece of plywood on the inside of the transom, bolt the motor through to that, fill the crack with thickened epoxy, and keep my eye on it. To do it "right" would mean a complete transom repair, but who knows how much rot there is. shore it up and keep your eye out for a...

Mounting Trolling Motor on a 255

I was surprised to read that a long-shaft trolling motor would do anything useful on a 7000lb boat - who'd have thought!

Bilge smell in Marlin mid/aft berth

Fabuloso is great, but the fragrence can get a bit intense after a while - a good alternate is Odoban (available from Ace, Amazon etc). We switched in our RV because the fabuloso became overpowering in a small space.

    Garmin Training

8618xsv ?!? please please tell me where you found that one - I need it too! The 8x Garmins work like big iPads - touch, stretch etc, they are pretty intuitive. You need to be super comfortable with the MOB workflow, and of course distress if you're integrating with a VHF (which I expect you...
