    Bottom Paint Removal?

Have you considered repainting with some of the colored anti fouling paints? I have used Petit Vivid with good results (dark colors). But they make a white and a wide range of other colors. An ablative style paint is suitable for trailerable boats. Also, FYI I believe the paint...

    Dry Tortugas via Key West

You might want to check The Hull Truth in the Florida regional section for info on making the run to Fort Jefferson. The advice will mirror what you have gotten here but with a number of people posting upcoming trips. Might be helpful if you are looking for a group or buddy boat making the...

Keeping the boat in the water for a month

Smokey, On the subject of anodes, you may want to look into the ones for fresh water. I believe they are made of magnesium raqther than zinc. I have used both on my boat and will say the magnesium ones seem to work better in fresh. Bob

Keeping the boat in the water for a month

Keeping them in the water is great. Don't be surprised if you end up using your boat much more and considering making it a more permanent situation. I keep mine in the water year round. Mine is painted now but I keep her in the water for a couple of summers unpainted. A couple of things I...

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

Good Looking Overnighter Fish Tank. Like the arch. The bow light on my Overnighter is actually an Attwood and not a Perko. Not sure why Grady did that. The bulb is easy to replace and I would try that first. I believe that the socket can also be changed if need. I have been on the look out...

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

Bryan, you are correct about the all around light. The windshield mounted light is a combination nav and anchor light. IMO that is the best position to mount as it is out of the way of the cockpit. A stern pole light on an Overnighter would have to be 4+' feet long. If you look at hardtop...

Best way to sell my Grady

While the fall might not be the best time to sell a boat, you might want to go ahead and be thinking about a dealer if you go that route. With fall and spring boat shows coming up, a good clean used boat could be just the boat many are looking for. I expect there will be alot of sticker shock...

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

Bryan, You should post some pictures of your boat. The light used to bother me too. With the bend at the top of the pole it is not as bad. I usually have my top up at all times so that is one factor. Tried this glare blocker. Worked OK. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... sNum=50584

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

SFC is correct, but this one works and I think works and looks better. It follows the angle of the windshield but most importantly it place the light behind your eyes when at the helm. Much easier on the eyes.

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

Double check the width of your existing seats. Cannot remember the width of mine. I think the width shown on the website might be with the armrests. Next time I am up at the lake I will get a picture of mine and get the width for you. Do you trailer to Lanier or do you keep your boat on the...

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

yes I replaced by original seats. Looked for a long time before I found some that were narrow enough to fit in the helm area. Finally found the seats I wanted at Boater's World in Fort Lauderdale (long since gone). They are manufactured by Wise and worked out well however I did remove the arm...

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

Big Foot, I reread your original post and it made me recall something. One of the reasons I ended up replacing my light was because after I had a new bimini and curtains made for my boat, the canvas made a higher arch even though the frame was the same. Think the bows are closer together in...

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

Bigfoot - will be on the lookout. What year is your Overnighter? I assumed it has the "bent" pole. It is probably this light. http://www.perko.com/catalog/category/n ... oduct/121/

Overnighter - NAV Light pole and Bimini help

The problem I had finding a replacement for my Overnighter was the bend in the original light. Since my boat house door seems to eat these lights, I have had to find a couple of replacements. The first one was ordered from Perko and it was very expensive. Light had to be special ordered but...

    REPOWERING BOAT

I have a 1988 Overnighter that I repowered in 2002 with a 200 HPDI. I could not be happier with the set up. The HPDI has been a great engine and in my opinion is the perfect match for this hull. I do not keep exacting records of fuel burn and such but can tell you that the HPDI is about 30%...

To Survey or Not to Survey - 2001 GW 180

Something to consider is that a survey can help you with insurance. Some insurance companies are going to require them anyway. And if you are looking at a stated value, policy it will help establish value.

A lot of good recommendations for BOE. But if they do not have what you need try Bluewater Books and Charts in Fort Lauderdale. They carry a very deep product line for cruiser's all over the world. http://www.bluewaterweb.com/
