    265 Repower (w/ ETEC 250's)

Re: 265 Repower (espcially those with 2001 hulls) Thanks for all the feedback guys, my hopes of the Suzuki's fell thru, but ironically may have opened the door to a better set of 2009 ETEC 250's, only 370 hours, original owner in great shape. They are being mounted now, hoping to get the boat...

    265 Repower (w/ ETEC 250's)

Re: 265 Repower (espcially those with 2001 hulls) Thanks for the info everyone. I talked with jekyl, he is a similar situation, trailers the boat, so the weight of the 4 strokes wasnt a big concern for long term sitting in the water. He said his drains just fine. Things arent working out as...

    265 Repower (w/ ETEC 250's)

So, aside from the sun not rising in the east in the next few weeks, Im finally ready to put some power back on my boat. Havent done near what I thought I would have accomplished in regards to "projects" at this point, but I guess thats just how it goes. I did replace scuppers, re-did the...

What does everyone do for a living?

Recently just changed jobs from Military Sealift Command, hauling bombs, fuel and food for the Navy. Now working as a Chief Mate on DP oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. Chain, who knows, maybe Ive seen you working out here!! Small world in the oil-patch and DP line of work, thats for sure.

    Who is right?

The true who has right of way, who is give way, as per rules of the road would depend on which way the boats were facing, how they are "meeting" so to speak, (crossing port to stbd, overtaking, meeting head to head etc). The sheer fact one was going slow, one was going fast .....eh, really has...

Trim Tab trouble on 265 express not working

The switch went bad on mine a year ago or so, would only operate 1 tab in 1 direction (talk about a bad ride home!!!) Easy to check the reservoir though under that fwd stbd compartment. Replacement switches are common at West Marine. (be sure to take a picture of the wiring with your phone or...

222 won't track straight at low rpms

Very typical for deeper V boats to wander at low speeds. 25" or especially worse are 30" shaft motors, all that prop torque will cause the boat to walk to one side. Dual engine boats typically can cancel each other out.

    Sell it or Keep it?

I appreciate the insight, seems to be a fair split on sell or keep. I certainly am not against used motors, infact I keep my eyes out for late model pairs all the time, seem to focusing on Suzuki 250's for their lighter weight and overall lower costs compared to Yamahas. As for getting another...

    Sell it or Keep it?

Guess type of boat helps..... Its a 2001 265 Express No transom issues, only thing standing between it being 100% offshore ready is complete motor assembly & $81.00 per axle caliper rebuild kit for the brakes (given they are stuck in the "open" position) I towed it last week.

    Sell it or Keep it?

Hey Guys, I posted this on THT too, but I figured there are ALOT less agenda driven people here than THT. I start thinking about all the different boats Ive owned in the past, and the one thing that keeps coming back to me is how impressive the Grady has been over all others in respect to...

    Trailer for 265 express

I bought a Venture tri-axle, 10600# capacity, surge brakes on all 3 axles, mine is a bunk trailer with centering bunks forward and I opted for guide poles on the back (I load and offload solo alot) it works like a charm, steep ramps are tough, but Ive trailered that thing from GA to VA for 2...

Yamaha Ox66 Power Issues Please Help!!

The pressure regulator is on the inboard/backside of the VST, its on the top of the tank, its small, has some strange looking fixed bent tubing coming off it with as Tucker said, vapor lines as well, very brittle if ten years old, as mine were. If you can see the attached image Im going to...

Yamaha Ox66 Power Issues Please Help!!

Your symptoms sound very similar to the problems I had with my OX66 250, I did EVERYTHING people are suggesting, the stuff I did improved the motor alot, no doubt there, but never truly fixed it when finally I tried a simple step and found a clogged fuel screen on the fuel pressure regulator...

Grady 265 freshwater pump on the fritz?

If you remove the 2 star-board drawers in the cabin (just beside the stairs inboard). Once you pull those out you'll see the pump and the filter is right there, the supply hose is on the port side of the pump (closest to the opening from the drawers you removed )

Grady 265 freshwater pump on the fritz?

Although it won't a actaully stop your pump from running, be sure to check the filter on the supply line of your pump. I recently had a freshwater issue, turns out the filter was completely clogged and the pump wouldn't come but for a second, then the pressure switch function would activate and...

    Recomdations for Hand Held VHF

I'll recommend the Icom series of handhelds, several different models with a wide range of prices too +/-$100 range, theyre waterproof, lithium battery lasts FOREVER!! (within reason ofcourse) very durable and easy to use. We use them on our ships which impressed me enough to buy one as a backup...

    surprising handling characteristic 268 islander

My last boat was a Sailfish 2360 CC with a single F250, that was a deep V boat single engine, the long shaft on the Deep V caused the boat to have a few tendencies you described, I discussed this with many sailfish owners, general consensus was all the torque created by that long shaft at the...

    Naked AND Skinny

Just to be clear, Im absolutely not expecting 3mpg at cruise, im thinking more total avg, ie including idle and trolling. I would think the DF175s could avg a a good 2.2-2.4 avg cruising (speed est 24-28mph) but thats just my thoughts from comparable boats and internet readings, just a hunch...

    Naked AND Skinny

I do have reservations on the 175's, I'll be first to admit that. The idea was first started by a local Suzy dealer, he swears by them, but he also sells them (insert grain of salt.....) I certainly dont want to be a $28,000 guinea pig. I have some ideas to move weight off the transom, thought...
