    Naked AND Skinny

Im not truly sold on any engine....yet. Having read ALOT about the Suzys, talked with an installer, he was first to recommend em, then I followed up on it, found several THT guys that have done it on various models from Contender 27s to a Chaperall 30, then there is the few performance reports...

I ran mine with stbd motor on 1, port motor on 2. Hadnt charged the batteries in over a year and always work like a charm.

    Naked AND Skinny

I gutted it completely, no Yamaha parts left on the boat, really want 4strokes, but ETEC looks to be an option is price is right (just don't like white motors on a Grady)

    Naked AND Skinny

My 265 that is!!! Sold my engines and ready to start the long drawn out process of putting new power on her. Im VERY much interested in the Suzuki 175's, Ive read alot about similar repowers, talked with a few guys that did it to similar sized Gradys, not exact, but similar. And im just...

Grady 265 express holding tank issues

Hmmmm, Im thinking maybe air lock? Do you have the ability to use a marina pump out or really vacu/suc machine? I used one at a local marina and was only able to get it about 50% empty, but its better than nothing.

Grady 265 express holding tank issues

You have the manual pump for bowl flushing right? I replaced my hand pump when I got mine, made a big difference in total performance of the flushing, you know there is a switch on top, just above the pumping handle, one side if for no water flushing, the other side is for water flushing...

Routine Maintenance/things to know (265 Express)

Use "No Odor" packets in the head, Ive bought one box at west marine, and its lasted over a year (granted I dont use the head much) but i can tell once I pump out the head, if i don't add a pack right after, the smell is noticeable very soon, add a pack to the water and flush....smell goes away...

    250 Yamaha EFI Maintenance Tip

Ive been chasing a high RPM hesitation gremlin on my port engine for over a year now, between work schedule and trouble shooting the sometimes sparadic problem its been a LONG time coming. I did the typical recommendations, VST, LP pumps, motor mounted filter, did a HP gauge test at all RPMs...

    What 265 Express Upgrades?

I really love my new dash, I wanted to mount a vhf flush, but had to compromise because there wasnt enough room. Thats a Garmin 4210 and Sitex 128, had to notch out the corners and top lip, but youd never know it because of the Starboard.

Wiper motor and blades (2000 sailfish)

I contacted Grady last year for a POC for the motors too, they gave me Diesel Equipment Inc as the seller. I was able to get the motor arm, and all plastic tubing components to replace my wiper on a 265. They needed exact measurements of the blade and arm. Here is the motor part number I got...

Are there any differences thru yrs in the 265 Express

Ive hit 54 with light load, no enclosure up with my 250s, it was the only time Ive ever seen 5500 RPMs on the boat Avg WOT with stock props is 51-5200 and about 47-48mph. Just dont look at the fuel flow, its scary, Ive seen it hit 60GPH once or twice.

Are there any differences thru yrs in the 265 Express

Some good info from good sources on the 265 here, when I was shopping for one a year+ ago, I noticed the big jump in price in just a few years difference in model years. I think the 2002-3's had upgraded counters and bulkhead/interiors in the cabin, too, but my guess is the sheer price of...

Yamaha Gauges for OX66 Saltwater Series

    Sloppy hydraulic steering

I was having air get into mine last summer; found that the rear main (cork) seal was leaking, actually took a picture with my iphone of the label on the SeaStar helm, emialed that to SeaStar (Canada I think) they gave me the exact number rebuild kit to buy, googled it and I think I found it on...

Here we go again...maybe hi fuel costs

Absolutely.......this is such a repeat of last January when Egypt started the "Arab Spring".....gas shot back up into the triple digits.....we complained about it pretty hard in the summer of 2008; peaked in early Sept I think......bottom fell out in mid Sept if memory serves me right. I...

    Joystick docking system for outboards

Im definently not knocking the new idea or the new products, I would love to have about a 40ft express with IPS drives, having worked on tugs with Z drives, and ships with Dynamic Positioning, the idea of applying this technology to small boats is just awsome. With all that being said, if I...

Repair shop blew engine on sea trial after "fixing it" with

Re: Repair shop blew engine on sea trial after "fixing it" w I would certainly keep pressing this issue with the shop, have you been dealing with the actual general manager or just service rep? Is it a well known, big dealer for Yamaha or even better a Grady shop? I had a very similar...

    Trailering 282 Sailfish

I trailer a 265 with a 3/4 ton Chevy 6.0 gas, the suspension and braking handle it well but on the hwy with hills and take offs you have to pick your openings just right. For 95% of my local towing it does great, mine weighed in at 10300 lbs with 1/2 gas and no gear. I think the specs have the...

Where to Buy Current NOAA Charts?

Used to be a nav, im a chief mate now, but have always loved voyage planning and busy sea watches. I work for Military Sealift Command, currently on a Norfolk ship, just got back from 6th Fleet. Ive seen some dumb ones out here, sad thing is, the technology is getting so much better now its...
