    Gas Tank Question

I had a seam on a plastic tank stored inside my garage split and leak. It's aluminum for me for sure. Treated right it should outlast the boat.

    2005 yamaha

Sounds like an awesome deal! Now try to wear that motor out. Betcha can't. The worst thing you can do for that motor is not use it. Some startron and ring free in the gas and you should have lots of happy motoring. Boeshield T9 sprayed under the engine cover will help that motor stay looking...

    '99 300 Marlin w/ Yamaha 250 FXRX 2 strokes

That's a great combo if the price of fuel doesn't concern you. I would consider your estimated usage and fuel cost before making any purchases. If you were looking at more efficient engines and settle for less you may suffer from buyers remorse. Many of the systems on these boats will need...

    muriatic acid treatment for outboard

If 2 professional mechanics looked at it and couldn't repair the engine, it may not be repairable. There could be internal block or head damage. Was a compression test done? If the engine doesn't work I would price the deal as if it needed a repower. Once i owned it, if compression was good I...

    Boy do I feel dumb

I learned something new today. Thanks, I can't imagine how much time I would have wasted chasing that one down. I would definitely have had to use my "phone a friend" lifeline.

Ride of newer hull as compared to older design

Unless you are trying to get different options or a larger hull, I wouldn't imagine it would be worth it . Have you considered a Gulfstream with twins or one of the other newer models. If you are trying to get a better ride you would be amazed what a difference 2 or 3 feet in length will do...

Update on my F250... it is seized!!!

With no water in fuel filter it sure sounds like a mechanical failure. Don't worry prematurely, stay positive and concentrate on getting back on the water. Good luck

    need T-top for 209 cc 2004

If it were me I would find a marine fabricator thats local. Only after inspecting a few examples of his completed work would i do business with them. Its your chance to get exactly what you want. I would expect to pay about 3000 plus canvas. I'm not in the business, I was getting some prices...

New Boat - what will it take for you to buy one?

sel1005 every point you made is valid and I agree. If a deal catches your eye that causes you to ignore those reasons, that's when you become a boater. Until then your fishing on the pier. One thing that helps me is I don't call it "loss" or "depreciation" at our house its "the cost enjoyment"...

    Helm seats on the 282

many models have a replaceable bushing between the seat and the pedestal. you may want to check that for the squeak. i prefer the swivel seat compared to the scout set up so that at anchor i can swivel around and put my feet up. just my $.02

looking for some info on a 1986 22 seafarer OMC 2.6 Seadrive

Hey smokey, use the force and you will see that a sea drive is an omc outboard on its own bracket. popular science loved them in in 1981. check out the article starting on page 66 it shows a seadrive on a 22 grady and the air duct protruding from the transom cap. I agree "thats not the grady...

looking for some info on a 1986 22 seafarer OMC 2.6 Seadrive

I have no personal experience with a seadrive but I have heard they are very undesirable. extremely heavy compared to other comparable options, and probably not worth repairing if broken. I would keep looking if I were you. good luck with your search.

    Removing bad fuel from Marlin

if your boat has the electric primers made by walbro mounted below decks you can use them to pump out old fuel. they are rated for continuous duty. i circulated old fuel out of one tank into the other, through the filters several times and was able to remove all the water and tank sludge by...

    Removing Boat Name

in the past on truck doors i've used oven cleaner and a plastic scraper if its paint and not vinyl. although i have never used it on fiberglass. then a wet sand with super fine sandpaper, and compound and buff.
