    verado repower

The 6 cylinder verado's are too heavy. That's why you can find bargains on those. For me they are a little too complicated for an older fishing boat. The 200 4 cyl would perform well but for me it's just a little too fancy. My new 4 strokes have as much or more power than my old carbureted 2...

    help on used boat purchase

With the boat floating free from the lift sitting still. If there's any water on the deck I would pass on the deal. The why doesnt really matter. Good luck!

    94 Sailfish issues?

Here's a few things to check. If maintenance has been kept up these things may already be repaired. 1. The removable fiberglass deck plates over the fuel tanks are usually soft and in need of re-coring. 2. The plastic thru hulls were junk in 94. All need to be replaced. 3. The bulkhead at your...

    zuke 300hp

I repowered with a pair of suzuki 200's this year. So far I'm very happy with them. I haven't needed service or warranty yet. I did my first oil change myself with no difficulties. The larger diameter prop seems to be an advantage. I'm satisfied with mine so far, there's nothing like new stuff...

    keeping motor in up position

That will leave the tilt and trim pistons extended and exposed to the elements. I would coat them with grease. Any minor corrosion that occurs over winter will damage the seals when you retract them to lower the motor. If at all possible I would leave it down.

    Blown Motor

Sorry about your loss. The good news is that there are only 4 bolts holding your old engine on. If you are happy with your hull it's a perfect time to get a new or nearly new outboard that you can get serviced locally. Don't let it get you down we've all been there. Good luck!

Towing a Gulfstream with a Tacoma

I think your gulfstream will tow great until an emergency situation arises. Then I think it will get pushed around and beat up. I wouldn't do it regularly. Just my $.02

    1986 25' Trophy Pro

Less, If those engines need shift rod service because of corrosion they're totaled. That's a pre seav2 hull. Unless it's a bargain I would look for a 92 or newer hull with 93 or newer Yamaha's. Just my $.02. good luck!

There is a huge difference with hydraulic steering on a 150 hp. Once it's installed you will never know how you did without it. Good luck with your project.

    Grady 22 and 24 questions....

Seems like your off to a rough start callin out Bob P on a gravity issue. Let me see if I can add a little clarity to the situation. I recently repowered and my scuppers are underwater. Before my repower the stain around my boat was in about the same spot. What matters is that the deck needs to...

    Livewell washdown conversion

If your pump is adequate, all you need is a 3 way valve some hose and the washdown outlet. The million dollar question is what model pump do you have?

    228 Seafarer Washdown pump issue

Sounds like the integral pressure switch in your pump is hanging up. you may be able to dismantle it clean it and reassemble. If its a shurflo blaster they're kind of notorious for failures. I now just replace mine when it's questionable. My trailer brakes last longer than my wash down pumps...

    Yamaha Stalling

If it were mine I would do a decarb treatment. And add Ring Free 2oz per gallon then run it, if it's a carbon issue it will gradually run better. This is the cheapest and easiest thing to try first. Just my $.02, good luck with it.

    seacock size

I was able to dismantle mine and lubricate it, now its good as new. I wouldn't use a home depot brass valve. Yours is probably bronze. The threads may be different also. I'm just guessin' . Others here will know more but I think it's a good idea to stay out of the depot's plumbing isle. Good...

Anyone use pledge on their trailer brake sys

Sounds like you're in for trouble in another year if you didn't pledge those new parts. :bang On your next service maybe try some Kodiaks. My actuator is a Titan and it has done well also. Just curious, Did he say pledge to your face or was that over the phone? Thats a good one! I checked...
