    It must be Spring because

I clean them in a sink with hot water and add about a cup of http://www.oxiclean.com/versatile/landing.aspx (powder kind and let it dissolve). I use a fairly stiff bristled brush and all the dirt and grime comes right off. Also works great on patio furniture and any stained dock edging and...

    gelcoat polishing need advice

A wool pad is good to remove the oxidation with a compound....A Dual Action Random Orbital does more work with less effort and eliminates any chance of scratching or burning through gelcoat. Closed cell foam pads work the best for polish, lake country makes some good ones (The black ones). Some...

    electronics /stereo in a 192

    gelcoat polishing need advice

I can't comment on the dual action buffer at harbor freight but I will tell you, the results you will get by hand vs a dual action machine (I have a porter cable 7242xp) is night and day difference. You need the speed in the polisher in order to get great results especially if you are bringing...

    01 282 Sailfish

    Plugging Transom Screw Holes

I have some screw holes in my transom from the previous owner when he mounted a transducer/line for a fish finder that is no longer in there. When I got the boat last year, I ended up using a high end aircraft sealant as a temporary solution. I am replacing all the thruhulls/scuppers with SS...

Getting ready to install my new fuel tank

Why would PT 2x4 be a problem? I don't know what else you would use because i'd certainly want some kind of waterproof coating on waterever wood goes under deck it is going to be susceptible to moisture.

    Teak Restored!

The teak trim off my 89 190 Tournament. I don't think it had ever been done before because the boat sat in storage for over a decade. I sanded with an orbital sander and by hand with 60-80grit and then went over with 220 grit afterwards. I used Sikkens Cetol Marine Natural Teak. Amazing product...

    Draining the Drive bracket

Yea after looking at this more carefully, don't think this applies to my boat. Looks like you guys are talking about the drive bracket that extends out from the transom like a jack plate....I am just talking about the aluminum transom cover.

    Draining the Drive bracket

Not trying to hijack the thread but on the same topic, our 89 Grady 190 has low hours and was only used in fresh water. I am doing all the thru-hull fittings, scuppers stainless this spring and changing the thru hull drain tube on the transom. That aluminum engine bracket over the transom always...

What do you guys think of this 185 to purchase?

Well she ended up buying it, I haven't found out for the amount yet. She did have an independent survey done and a compression test done and everything checked out. She also took it for a test drive. There is two Grady Dealer's "downtown" in Ontario. Pointe Au Baril & actually Mountain House...

When will you splash your boat?

Won't be until May I don't think here in Ontario, Canada....Just received 10 inches of new snow over the past few days and temps very cold still....hard to believe I was chucking the boat in the water March 30th last year which is very early for these parts!
