    Looking for some Propellor Help

Both are too low with the starboard side being the lower of the two. You should be able to see the cavitation (anticavitation) plate.

    Starting/Battery Problems

Take it to the pros. It will be nearly impossible to trouble shoot that on a message board. There could be 100 things wrong. OK, maybe that's an exaggeration, but you get the idea.

    Real Fuel Capacity

My 228, which seems to share hulls with the 225, allows me to run the tanks (I have a main and auxillary) almost completely dry. Either that or they hold more gas than they say or the gas pump lies.

    Looking for some Propellor Help

I'm no expert but the motors seem to be rigged way too low. Hard to tell from the pics but the cav plates look like they are lower than the keel and the motors are mounted in the lowest setting. That could explain part of the low revs. If the motors are too low they will be working too hard...

    GW 228 & Venture 5400/23 Trailer Question

Why can't you just move the boat forward a bit? I would hesitate to adjust the axles as there is a good chance of getting the alignment off center. All the Venture trailers I have seen have the standard style winch stand that can be moved forward or back. You probably don't need to move the...

    Florida Trip

Captain Bill is definitely the guy to talk to. He also posts on FloridaSportsman.com. He answered many of my questions regarding heading down there for lobstering later this year and gave me information that no one else but a true local would have. As an alternative you could ask your question...

228 - Water in forwardmost compartment

I just finished the hole that had already been started (or had been sealed or something). It is a bit starboard of center, facing straight down towards the hull, and as close to the aft compartment wall as possible. The compartment itself is slanted that way if you look at it closely enough (I...

Where to start looking for used Seafarer 228 ?

rorkin, 228's are tough to find as almost no one gets rid of them unless they are moving up. It took me almost two years to find mine. And I had to fly from Tampa to Katy, Texas just to look at it (ended up buying it on the spot and trailering it 23 hours home behind a Budget Rental truck)...

    Adventure or Seafarer

My 9 year old son and I have camped on our 228 numerous times. I'm not gigantic (6' 225lbs) but if the cabin on the 208 is much smaller than the 228 I'd say it could be a tight squeeze. With small kids I'd highly recommend the 228 as it has a full transom. The notched transom of the 208 and 226...

Why are Gradys so popular up Northeast vs South??

Not alot of Grady's in Tampa. Many more in Boca Grande area but that's probably due to Igman Marine (Grady Dealer) being based in Port Charlotte/Placida. My guess is that we don't see as many Grady's down here because there are so many other boats made here that are of good quality and much...

Stereo/speaker location on 228 with hard top/radio box?

My setup is similar to Parthery's except that I added two round speakers where the inspection ports are next to the fish boxes (bought replacement inspection covers and used them as mounts in case I ever want to remove the speakers and go back to the stock look).

How to determine proper engine height?

Kinda hard to get exact measurements due to where my boat is stored, but it looks like the leading edge of the outdrive is 39 inches from the transom when the anti-cav plate is parallel with the keel and the anti-cav is 2 1/2 inches higher than the keel. Seems like it might be a bit low. Here...

How to determine proper engine height?

Yes, its on a trailer. I'll measure when I get home and post. If I recall correctly the plate should be one inch higher for every foot back from the transom, right?

How to determine proper engine height?

I have a 2004 228 with an F225 (see sig). My Yamaha Fuel management system shows that my best mpg to be between 2.4 and 2.7. The Grady White performance data says it should be 3.6ish. Granted I have a hard top and I never boat in glass smooth seas, but still. I'm wondering if my motor is...
