    1980's Grady Fuel tanks

Actually 5052 aluminum is what you want. Stainless will crack from oil canning over time as it is brittle. You typically don't see ss fuel tanks unless they are cylinder shaped because of this. I've had 2 old gradys and my dad has one also a 1988, 1989 and 1990. All had badly corroded aluminum...

    1988 grady white 204c overnighter

I had a 1990 204c and I loved that boat. It did have a wet transom as do most but it hadn't started to rot yet. From the boat of that era you'd be hard pressed to find one without water in there. Rot is what you really want to avoid and it takes quite a while to rot out marine plywood. Hull...

    Marlin 300 vs. Adventure 208

Thats such a big jump in size its all depending on you. Nothing wrong with going back 8 years if the hull and motors are sound. I recently went from an overnighter 204 to a sailfish 25 about half the jump you're thinking about. Seav2 or not the marlin will feel like a freighter compared to the...

    What's GW's best seller?

Seafarer would be my guess. Overnighter/adventurer would be my second guess. Sailfish number 3.

    Single Engine 25' Sailfish????

Im sure it wouldbe a serviceable boat with the single 300 but not ideal of course. Cant tell you anything about it except that my 1988 sailfish 25 has twin 150 hondas and with a grand total of 300hp and 1000lbs of motors it performs pretty decently. Consensus on the internet was that it would be...

Props for Sailfish 25 with twin 150s?

For anyone with the older sailfish 25 and 4 stroke 150s what props have you run and how did they preform. At $400 per I cant affor a lot of trial and error. My honda 150s have stainless 14-1/2x15. Havnt run the boat enough to know if they are performing well.

Fuel / water filter How many times a seaon do you change ?

Re: Fuel / water filter How many times a seaon do you chang Eliminate the guesswork, get the ones with the clear bowl that you can drain. Still replace the filter element regularly. At least once per year but youll know how much water you got at all times.

    House Battery install 255 Sailfish

    Sailfish: 1 bilge or 2?

Connected via pvc pipes but there are still spots that wont drain. Water will collect atthe low points. And yeah yougotta really tilt it to get it drained.

Overnighters Owners - where to mount the controls for Trim T

Re: Overnighters Owners - where to mount the controls for Tr Factory switch is on the top front of the recessed console or whatever youcall it with the cup holder on the starboard side of the wheel. Its ok there. Would be bettercloser to the throttle but theres no room.

    Seafarer vs. Gulfstream

My dad has a seafarer an d i have the gulfstreams larger brother the sailfish. Im going with the seafarer here because of a couple reasons. I love the gulfstreams wider beam but the drawbacks of lower efficiency, harsher ride and being more hassle to trailer are not worth it without several more...

    1986 GW Sailfish 255

The old hull is just fine. The sv2 is better in a head sea, the old hull is better in a following sea, which is the more dangerous sea anyways.

    E-Tec 300 on 255 sailfish

I have the same boat, a 1988. Ive read everywhere that you cant put twin 4strokes on because of their weight. My boat came factory with twin evinrude 200s which weigh 455lbs each. My boat was repowered with 2004 honda 150s that weigh 485lbs for a total difference of 60lbs which is negligeable...

20 foot owners - trim tabs??

Trim tabs will be a big improvement. You could get by without them in nice conditions but they were of use for me on my overnighter regularly.

Thru hulls with no backing plate

What purpose would the wood plate serve? Seems it would just eventually rot and cause you problems.

Thru hulls with no backing plate

Replaced the thru hulls on an overnighter 20 and a sailfish 25. None had backing plates just a big flanged nut.

    Need Advice on Trailer Brakes.

The weak link is your surge actuator. Scrap that thing and shell out the cash for an electric over hydraulic unit. Surge brakes drag and lock up, etc. Electric over hydraulic is a dream in comparison. Near immediate response, adjustable braking, no slamming when you take off and stop, etc. Cost...

How to run engine in a bucket?

I run mine in a large tote. Just make sure its deep enough to submerge the impeller. Also monitor the water temp as it will start to get hot and keepthe hose going to keep the water level up.
