    Black spots on vinyl

I just used Star Brite's mildew remover on the vinyl on my helm chairs. I thought the vinyl was shot and needed to be replaced. The guy at West Marine told me he was nearly sure that what I was describing to him was just mildew and nothing more. I disagreed strongly. He told me to buy the...

    Windshield coating is mottled

I see it with polarized sunglasses on. The pattern is even so I figured it was just the way the glass is manufactured or something... So, what is it?

    Radio Placement on Adventure 208

The admiral and/or kids generally sit back there too...they say when we are in a no wake zone they can hear the music fine. When we are up on plane, if I crank it they can hear it a little. I've got a 150 hp Salt Water Series II - 2 smoke engine. It's pretty loud (but I love the engine)...

    Radio Placement on Adventure 208

I have a remote and can point the remote at the port side window inside the cabin...signal bounces and the radio responds. My stereo has a aux jack on the face and I just run an aux cord to my iPhone in a dry bag in the electronics box so really I only use the remote for volume control.

    Radio Placement on Adventure 208

I have seen them flush mounted facing forward just below the back seats. Easy to install because of the access hatches but I didnt put them there because of moisture (in the bilge area) and because when running I figured I would almost certainly not be able to hear them. I am very pleased with...

    Motor trim

Exact same thing happened to my buddy and I on his 263 chase back in April. Turned out the be a short in the trim switch at the engine. Disconnected switch, no more problem.

    Radio Placement on Adventure 208

I mounted the stereo under the electronics box in the cabin. The speakers are mounted down by my feet (facing the bulkhead). Sounds great.

Recs on Fish/Depth Finder for Escape 209

I installed a Garmin 441s in my Adventure 208 back in December. Granted, I haven't used it much since then because of weather/hectic schedule but for the 3 or 4 times I have been out it does the job. It won't break the bank either.

    Adventure 208 Speaker Placement

Where did you put the stereo unit itself? I thought about placing it in the back but the dealer suggested not putting it there because of the moisture that gets in the bilge etc. They suggested having the speakers right under the pedestal of each seat facing the bulkhead. That way they stay...

    150 hp for 208Adventurer

I have a 2000 Adventure 208 with a Yamaha 150 OX66. Love the boat - just got a new Garmin 441s installed on it, had the annual done and picking it up this evening to take her back to the slip. I would like a little extra power. If I had to do it all over again or if my engine blew up, I would...

    Adventure 208 Speaker Placement

Anybody know where the Grady factory installs speakers on a new Adventure 208 before they deliver the boat to the dealer? Just curious as to where they place them.

    Fuel Pump Questions - Yamaha

I have a 150 OX66 - TXRY and it's beginning to do the same thing. Approximately how much is a fuel pump (without labor fees) for this engine?

Go for the hardtop. I have a bimini on my 208 and would love to have a hardtop. Having the electronics boxes up top frees up space at the helm too! I won't be getting a hardtop because of the added weight...something to consider.

    VHF Installation in Adventure 208

I'll definitely post pics as soon as I can. Good to hear the antenna laid down nicely. I'll mess around a bit with it before I drill the holes. As for mounting it on the gunwail....will check that out too. Will have to see where the coax would come though into the helm area...sounds more...

    VHF Installation in Adventure 208

Thanks. I marked where I was going to put the antenna mount. I think mine will be about where your GPS antenna was located. Also, because I have a bimini, the antenna is probably going to have to rotate and "lay down" towards the stern...not the bow. It's not ideal but the bimini poles are...

    VHF Installation in Adventure 208

I went to the dock tonight and installed the VHF in the electronics box. Took out the instrument panel which made drilling the holes for the fixed mount much easier. Threading the power cord down to the fuse box proved to be a not-so-easy task - tight spaces but I was able to get the power...

    VHF Installation in Adventure 208

Thanks Seasick. Do you, by chance, have any pictures of how you mounted the VHF? What is 5200 and 4200? Obviously, a sealant of some kind but never heard of it... Parthery...thanks for the info on the spade connectors. Will get those tonight. Again, thank you soo much for the insights...

    VHF Installation in Adventure 208

Thanks for the details. Great information. If I wire it to the fuse block (not knowing what it looks like off hand) is it safe to assume there will be an "empty" terminal (or fuse) for me to connect the positive and negative wires? I did buy a Shakespeare 8' antenna. It was on sale at...

    VHF Installation in Adventure 208

Hi, I just purchased a Standard Horizon fixed mount VHF radio and would like to install it in the electronics box at the helm on my 2000 Adventure 208. I am a novice when it comes to electrical work so please excuse my ignorance but I have several questions. If anyone can help, it would be...
