new looking 33 @ AC boat show

If I lived in Florida I'd probably have a center console. Living in Canada we add diesel heaters to our boats to extend the season. I'd love a hard top like this for my Marlin. No flapping canvas and no leaks. Nice and toasty. Looks are in the eye of the beholder but it's the same darn boat as a...

    Gulfstream Fuel Primer Pumps..needed????

I have a 1992 Marlin. I bypassed the pumps with bulbs. Simpler and easier to diagnose. Sitting less than 2 or 3 weeks don't even need them with EFI's. I suspect with carbs you might need them nearly every time.

    Any Merc mechanics?

My engines are 1997 Mercury 250 EFI Offshore -OG47xxxx I have a problem with my starboard engine. Started up both engines and they ran fine. Starboard engine quits dead and will not re-start. It's cranking fine. I checked it was getting fuel and all that seems fine. I pulled the plugs one at a...

I FOUND THE "WATER IN FORWARD BILGE " PROBLEM !!

I had exactly the same problem with my holding tank. After replacing the macerator pump i found leaving the seacock open could flood the holding tank and it would overflow over the top. I rebedded the the top in sealer and never leave the seacocks open other than when in use. It's a pain and the...

    terrible time installing fuel sender

My 18 volt drill has a solid housing not like a 110 volt drill that has vents. I took every precaution including emptying the tank and letting it sit open with the senders out for a couple of days. There were no fumes around but I still stuck a wet rag in the hole but frankly I was more worried...

    Removing the cabin bolster cushions

keep trying Sometimes the screw heads have migrated under the fabric. Push hard and run your hand along. Any bump should be a screw head.

I think he meant the ones in the cabin not the coaming bolsters.

A/C sea water pump for 2007 Marlin 300

Mine is a March Mine was 110 volt mag drive March pump. Your going to have to call Grady or pull up the hatch to have a look. These pumps rarely fail. Usually it's a clogged inlet or a wiring problem. Check your filter and your thru-hull.

    Removing the cabin bolster cushions

V-Verth pads I think you are talking about the v-berth cushions on the cabin sides. On my Marlin there is a center "fold" separating the cushion into what looks like two parts. Run your fingers down that and you will find screw heads.

    terrible time installing fuel sender

Drill and tap Stuff a wet rag in the hole and work in a well ventilated area. Use a battery powered drill (no sparks from motor). I broke 3 screws getting my senders out. I just turned the new senders a few degrees off the original holes and marked the spots for the new holes. I slowly...

What size of Kicker Motor is needed for 22' Boat

Kicker I have a 9.9 Mercury on my 28 Marlin for salmon trolling. It works great. I lost my engines 15 miles from port on the west coast and it brought me home. It took 5 hours but I got home. A lot of guys on the west coast really like the 8hp high thrust Yamaha with power tilt/trim.

    Barbecue Mount

rod mounts are finicky I had a rod mount for my magma and hated it. Wouldn't really level and felt flimsy. I ended up drilling two holes for post mounts with bayonet clips. Rock solid. The grill comes out easily and is so solid I often just leave it in. I mounted it on the port side as far...

New Boat - what will it take for you to buy one?

some simple rules for a stress free life NEVER borrow to buy a depreciating asset. Don't insure liablities, this includes your wife and kids. Buy the boat you need not the boat that looks good at the dock. Be realistic in how much time you have to use the thing. I would like a newer, bigger and...

NEED A BUFFER AND WHAT BRAND IS SUGGESTED

Porter Cable I use a Porter Cable. Only downside is that it's a touch heavy but it will out last me. All kinds of detailing websites and forums are out there. I use mine on my car too and car paint is a lot less forgiving than gelcoat.

    Cabin Interior Renovation

It's not a bad job I did the entire top half of my cabin ('92 Marlin). The carpet stuff is affectionately known as "monkey fur". It's a available by the yard from any decent size marine supplier. I have also seen it on eBay. Get an extra pair of hands and a can of 3M spray adhesive. Spray...

Boat Shipping East Coast to West Coast - Prices/Referrals

Has anyone shipped a Grady from the New York/Boston area to the westcoast? I'm looking for a ballpark price and any shippers who are reliable and insurable! I'm debating between repowering my Marlin or biting the bullet and getting a 33 Express. My bias is newer boat so I'm checking out my...

    Dinghy for 33 Express

I think he was looking for a different solution I have a Marlin and use an 8'6" dingy with a 4hp outboard with a built in tank. I made a set of straps for the hardtop but I have yet to find a good place to keep the outboard. it's a 4 stroke Merc and it's heavy!

    New Yamaha 4 strokes

What is the new engines designation? With Yamaha doing away with model years it's really hard to keep up with the model designations. Some are "drive by wire" but aren't they still selling ones with old style mechanical controls? Also, what is the diiference bewteen a 250BTXR and a 250BTUR...

    Gulfstream deck panel repair

I used a dremel A skil saw or a dremel. You just want to cut through the back fibreglass barely. The panel will separate easily if there is any kind of rot. I just pulled it out with my hands and an old chisel. find a piece of marine plywood or Baltic plywood of the right thickness and epoxy it...
