If they are the original batteries, they likely are shot. If they are a couple of years old, they may be shot depending on how they were treated (it is bad to run them all the way down). Given the problems you face without battery power, I would just replace them so you will know.

You can avoid drilling holes in the transom with a transom mount by epoxying a piece of starboard to the transom and drilling into it instead of the transom. If you are using the boat mostly in lakes and other water that isn't particularly deep, I think you are better off with the transom...

Two other issues I can think of are no transom door and you can't stand straight up in the head if you are 5'9". Also, the older versions have a reputation for being tender in a following sea.

It was discontinued because it didn't sell well enough. It was not much less expensive than the 28 Sailfish, and people paid the premium for the Sailfish, obviously deciding the extra cost was worth it for the additional room and features.

Thanks, I couldn't see them but now that you say the batteries are there I can see them. I hear you on not wanting to sell the boat. I am looking to upgrade to something in the 25-28 foot range and I hate the thought of letting my 192 Tournament go even though it would be hard to justify...
