    marlin 280 vs. marlin 300

I agree with tuner. The 10 year newer boat seems more for your money. I had EFIs. Not as quiet as F225s but huge improvement over old carb engines.

Sailfish in tight 3 to 5 foot seas

I've had both. Bigger boat = better ride = more money. It's a simple equation. :doh Seriously, I estimate my current Marlin could take the same conditions with the same comfort level 3-5 kts faster. For my it's all about comfort. I am not going to get beat to death unless there is a critical...

    Grady 33 Express Questions

Hey Joe. Glad to see you are moving up in the world. I am still Marlin centric since it is the largest our marina can handle. It still suits my needs perfectly although this was a terrible fishing year for many reasons. As for the 33, rafted up last weekend for the holiday flotilla with the...

Sailfish in tight 3 to 5 foot seas

Frank has it right. As to the fellow who is disappointed, sorry to hear that but you presented you opinions well without some of the clueless BS often seen on that other forum (who I have all but abandoned). It may be that a GW is not the boat for you. I beg to differ on not being a bluewater...

Surveyor for new Grady 360 express

I agree 100% with above comments. Paying for a survey is a waste of money for a new GW. Expect some minor flaws to show up in the first few months and expect superb resolution getting these addressed. GW is famous for customer service on boats well out of warranty as if they just left the...

    Downriggers

Danny, I swing mine out around 45 degrees once the bait is deployed.

    Downriggers

I used Penn 625s with the 4' boom and the quik mounts. They sit in the read rod holders and hence do not require a permanent base mounting. Highly recommended!

    Grady 305 Performance

Re: Grady 305 Performance ??? By comparison, here are my numbers. 2004 300 w/F225 27-28 kts @ 4700 rpm 1.3 mpg (statute) 1.4 in inland waters (ICW)

    Grady @ FLL Boat Show

I have to agree. For years I did not buy into the fit/finish nod to Pursuit. I have been all over a 3070 at our marina and still greatly prefer my Marlin. The Pursuit OS series however has raised the bar. The cabins are gorgeous, as is the general finish. The 315 has the nicest bilge access I...

    Grady @ FLL Boat Show

That would be a real shame. Until recently the 300 outsold the 305 but if that has changed it is probably because they don't seem to be pushing 300s. I haven't seen one at a show or dealer in several years. If it gets dropped then I will either keep Megabytes a LONG time or Megabytes 3 will be a...

    Uh oh! :(

Change in new Marlin engine lineup

Must be a mistake. The new 300s seem like the sweat spot for the Marlin. That is what I am planning for Megabytes 3 but that is years away.

    Marlin or Sailfish?

I owned a 97 272 before my current 2004 Marlin. It was a great boat. The 300 is essentially a larger 282. The cockpit is huge for a 30' boat. It really depends on your budget and the condition of the preowned choices. Here are some things that made me want to trade up. After almost 7 years I...

    Pursuit vs Grady

Here is another happy Marlin owner who agrees. I just don't like the cramped access of a center helm. It also trades seating for cockpit space. The OS series Pursuits have passed the large Gradys in many areas. I constantly remind the management team at the yearly boat shows. While the Pursuits...

    Marlin Not Tracking Well

Mine tracks fine. Something is not right. I agree with trim tab comments. They can cause bow steer in following seas.
