This is it. It does have the 8-point socket. Do I just put the wrench in that and loosen it from the top?

REPOWERING MY 2005 23 FT GULFSTREAM

Did they say why they felt it isn't right for your boat? Such an odd post. I couldn't imagine moving forward with such a major purchase without being absolutely certain, without any doubt that it is right. - Does your boat have twin motors currently - is the bracket set-up for twins? -...

    I Need Help...

Auto parts stores have hand pumps with radiator fittings - If you have a heat exchanger system, that may work. If not, then you will have to get creative: Find your water pickup and fit a hose to the inlet and block off the outlet.

I know I'm really pointing out the obvious, but I've cranked away at my motor before realizing I didn't have the kill switch plugged in.

    I Need Help...

Sounds like a fun young-mans project you have. Water intrusion could be from a couple things. Hope it's not from corroded cooling passages (holes rusted through the water jackets). Try pressurizing the cooling system to see if you have any internal leaks. If you do, then you have a good V-8...

    Fold Down Bunk Capacity

If you don't get too amourous up there, you should be fine. I'm just under 200lbs and felt totally secure laying on the bunk.

Luckydude, I mean this with all due respect, but do want to help control misinformation. OK, Now I'm understanding you better. I only comment because I feel that you are giving (not the best) advice based on limited experience. I don't care if people listen to me or not, I am genuinely glad...

Trim Tabs and Engine trim are related, but they do different things. It's not about singles, twins, tripples... It is about what rides best in any given condition. If you are comfortable just using your engine trim and don't think you need Trim Tabs, then great - that works for you. Trim tabs...

Also don't think of MPG as just gas mileage. It is telling you when the motors are working the lightest for any given speed = efficiency.

Lucky, I would say next time you're out while cruising: try dropping your trim tabs (assuming you have the Bennet tab gauge) one light on each side, then see how it reacts to motor trim changes. Then try "bow down" till you get two lights on the trim tab gauge and see how it reacts to motor...

MagicalBill, We are on the same page (except I rarely deploy my trim tabs past say 50% unless its a rough short-interval sea I'm heading into). Especially when trying to plane at a lower speed, you need trim tabs deployed. It's part of the fun - get out on the water and just experiment. Be...

Lucky, I think everything he said in that video is consistent with what I said - even had a few of the same analogies. As he said "If you can get away without using trim tabs, just use the motors..." The Gulfstream is a heavy boat for it's length. It has quite a bit of weight on the rear...

Trim Tabs are very important, not just in listing conditions. The trim tabs lift the stern and help level the boat. You don't want the boat plowing bow high through the water at lower speeds, you want the running surface of the hull to remain fairly level with the water. Imagine when you slow...
