Best Compound and Wax to use to bring back the grady hull.

Re: Best Compound and Wax to use to bring back the grady hul 3M Finness It if the oxidation isn't too bad on a wool pad. 2' x 2' section at a time until you get a mirror finish. Follow up with a good wax or polish. In the past I've used Collonite Fleetwax but tried StarBright Marine Polish...

Roll enclosure up or take off for the summer

I keep mine rolled up during the summer. It's nice to have if you get stuck in a thunderstorm. They are rolled down and washed when I clean the boat and then rolled back up. Much less hassle that taking them entirely out.

    Recommendation for a buffer

I use the cheap Harbor Freight buffer that on sale a lot for about $30. It's OK for the time or two per year that I use it. I did order good backing plates and pads from Lake Country.

Marine cooler vs using fish box

I typically use a fishbox or livewell for drinks, etc when not fishing just to avoid having a cooler in the cockpit. However, I use a Igloo cooler for frozen bait that I bring aboard when offshore fishing. I put some stick-on rubber feet on this cooler and it does a pretty good job of keeping...

How to get wires from helm up into electronics box? 226

I'm guessing your talking about getting into the helm box and not the overhead. There is a cover inside the helm box that needs to be removed. It's a plastic piece about 8 inches long. From the inside of the cabin there a piece of carpeted trim about 2 x 3 inches with a single screw attaching...

    Poppet valve replacement

Good advice... It is a simple fix but if it isn't overheating no need to "fix" it.

    Transducers? shoot thru/transom/thru-hull?

A P66 transom mount transducer will give decent results for around $125. I would not use the Garmin transducer...it'll be under a $100.

    200hp on 2001 226?

I would also question that performance. Maybe with little fuel and single person. My 228 has a 225HP and in smooth water I would be around 4300 RPM to run 30MPH.

98 208 TWO SATELLITE ANTENNA QUESTIONS

Last year I flush mounted two 700 series Garmins in Seafarer. One is used primarily as chart plotter/radar and the other for sonar. I already had a Garmin external antenna which I connected to the chart plotter/radar unit. The sonar unit doesn't have an external antenna and it works just...

    Got Spring Fever...bad

Hey Bob, I didn't realize that ya'll have had such a bad winter in the NC mountains. It's been a pretty mild winter in Charleston. We've had a string of temps in the 70s and not much cold in between. I think just last week the high was 78.

"Sonar" vs FishFinder: What's the Difference

If you look at the Lowrance web page they refer to this as a fishfinder/chartplotter combo. Sounds like the use of SONAR and fishfinder is being used interchangeably. As far as I know there isn't a difference.

    Electronics Box Spring Hinge

I just replaced mine during the summer. They're made by Southco but I bought them from my local Grady dealer. They aren't cheap but the boat was 12 years old so I can't complain too much. The electronics box on my 228 swings down from the forward end which helped greatly getting to the nuts...
