Seafarer Hull Restoration (Work In Progress)

I just finished using my first quart in that last pic. That did everything on the sides, transom, and almost everything forward of the trailer rollers. But, the bottom paint followed the outside chine all the way up to the bow eye.

I personally bookmarked the forum after login was complete. I always save cookies, and I let Chrome save the login name and password. Every time I open the site, I just scroll all the way to the bottom, the form is already filled out, and hit login.

Seafarer Hull Restoration (Work In Progress)

I'm sure wax paper or even Saran Wrap would work just fine to make it work longer. You really don't NEED it though. The paint stripper that I bought says it works in 30 minutes. I'm scraping it off in 15-20 minutes, depending on how thick the paint is. They sell the same stuff at Home Depot, but...

Seafarer Hull Restoration (Work In Progress)

I was pretty hesitant using the paint stripper. I tried it on an old piece of transom before I used it on the boat. I'm lathering it on with a brush and letting it sit for about 15-20 minutes. Then scraping it with a razor blade scraper. If you leave it on too long and it dries, it's useless...

    auto log in problem

Does the same thing to me. It is kind of annoying. I thought maybe it was a browser issue. I tried it on Internet Explorer, Firefox, and now Chrome. Still, same thing.

Seafarer Hull Restoration (Work In Progress)

Got some more done today. I have to be honest, this sucks. :bang I talked to one of my buddies today, who does body work and painting on commercial trucks. Instead of making it look like it did 30 years ago, he's going to get the paint code for the new Grady White "sand" optional gelcoat for...

Seafarer Hull Restoration (Work In Progress)

I have to say, for being 30 years old, my boat still looks pretty darn good. But, I want the bottom paint GONE! I keep the boat on a trailer, so it's useless and does nothing but slow me down. Since it's flaking off, I'd rather get rid of it than paint over it. Doing this has turned into a...

    Seafarer v. Overnighter

I'm on the total opposite end of the spectrum. I've had all three types of power options. Inboard, I/O, and outboard boats. I will absolutely never again own an outboard boat. That's just my opinion. I know alot of people like them. My opinions are not based on assumption, they're based on my...

    Gulfstream 232 deck drains

I think bronze thru-hulls help eliminate that problem. Stainless and chrome look better, but bronze should be put on boats that stay in the water.

    Seafarer v. Overnighter

I'm partial to my Seafarer. I've been around a few Overnighters, and that extra 2' adds alot. Mine is a 5.0L Mercruiser. I prefer the I/O over outboards. They're easier to work on, parts are plentiful and cheap, they last forever, way cheaper to replace if it blows up, and almost twice the fuel...

    Finally able to Grady shop!

That 99 Chevy will pull any 20-22' Grady just fine. I pull my 22' Seafarer with a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, which is a mid-sized SUV. I will tell you my opinion on which boat is more bang for it's buck in that range. I have been around a few 20' Overnighters, and the 22' Seafarer just seems way...

    Cushion Cleaning

Yup. Same ones. Mine are fabric also. I do the same thing for all of the cushions in my camper, too.

    Cushion Cleaning

I just replied to another person with the same question. I throw them in the washer on regular cycle, using cold water. Let them hang dry. Do not use the dryer. That will shrink them, and you'll have a hard time getting the foam back in them.

    Cleaning cabin cushions

I throw my boat and camper fabric cushions in the washing machine. Doesn't hurt them at all. Just use cold water only. I let them air dry, because I learned the hard way with my camper cushions. Drying them in the dryer will make them shrink a little bit, and when you insert the foam, it is a...

    Curtains in Tidewater

Thanks man. I live in Chesapeake, but work in Portsmouth. I remember there being a place in Portsmouth in Victory Crossing, but it's not there anymore. I guess their business folded. I appreciate that link. I'll give them a call.

    Curtains in Tidewater

Who makes curtains around South Hampton Roads? Mine are the original 1984 curtains (according to the last owner). It's about time for some new ones. Plus, the back piece is missing. With striper season starting to pick up, I might want that to keep the cold wind off me. Thanks, Chris.

    Recaulking flooring

I just resealed my floor this past weekend. Just pulled it up to check everything out before I started hitting the striper hard. I used clear bathroom silicone. I used to work in home improvement, and I have a little secret when it comes to applying silicone or caulk. Most people will hold the...

    Navigation light

LED is the way to go. Just buy a universal light. The LED ones are extremely bright and barely use any power. I love them. I've put one on my last three boats. Good investment.

    Marina Mischief

I noticed you mentioned the hunting trail cams. The newer and a little bit more expensive ones don't use a flash at all. They use infra-red. They still look like an LED flash, but really they're LED infra-red beams. You can't see them flash. Finding a good place to hide one would be a little...
