AC turns on and shuts off after a few seconds

Just guessing with my mechanical background, and without looking at it I would point towards either the pressure switch went bad, the condenser isn't getting cooled, or too much freon. If water isn't getting to the condenser, it will get hot and build up pressure. When that happens, the high...

1989 Sailfish 252G drains and thru hulls questions

I would assume they are routed about the same on pretty much all Grady's. Where the drains are, look for the 6" round deck plate right above them on the front of the fishbox on the starboard side, and the cooler/livewell on the port side. That's the access to the thru-hulls and drains. It's...

outriggers - how far down should they lay?

I've always been told to set them up so that when the riggers are out, they extend back even with the transom. I'm guessing on that boat you have wishbone mounts. Depending on the angle which they were mounted, they might not sweep back that far when they're down. Do you have any pics of them down?

    trailer wheel bearings

No problem. As said above already, you can overfill those bearing buddies and blow out the seals. And you definitely don't need to pump them up after every trip. Think about this. Your truck's front wheels have grease in the wheel bearings. How often do you repack the bearings? For most vehicle...

    Grady 241 info

Amen! Sorry I don't have any advise on your boat. I just wanted to chime in and let you know that you're not alone on that. The only outboard boats I'll ever own are ones that are too small for an inboard engine. That's what steers me away from any of the new Grady's. I'll most likely never own...

    No problem man.

    trailer wheel bearings

Repacking is taking the bearings out, putting new grease in the bearings, then reinstalling them. If your trailer has Bearing Buddy's, then there's no reason for that. You just pump them up with a grease gun. The only reasons you'd need new bearings, is they got rusted, overheated from not...

    Boat names

Lol. That's funny. But, here's something to think about. When you hail the Coast Guard, other boats, bridges, locks, etc., you're probably going to give your boat name in there somewhere. And in a real emergency, "Mayday, Mayday, this is Pull My Finger!" Haha. I had a buddy that thought it would...

    4 blade prop?

I have a Mercury cupped 4-blade "Offshore Series" prop on my boat. I have a different setup than you though. I have a Mercruiser fuel injected I/O. About the same horsepower, and I also have a Seafarer. The holeshot is pretty impressive with the 4-blade. Jumps right up on plane, no problem. Fuel...

    What's your mileage?

I average 2.5mpg on my Seafarer 22 with hardtop, full curtains, and 130gallons of gas. It's an fuel injected Mercruiser 5.0L V-8. Right at cruise, I get around 3mpg, and hammer down I get right at 2mpg. I normally run it at 3,600 rpm, which is about 34-35mph. That's where I get 2.5mpg. That's of...

HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR MOTORS VS TRIMMING WITH TABS

Generally, I only use my tabs to correct for weight shifts. They both stay up until someone decides to switch sides to sit or stand. When taking off, the motors should be all the way in. Once you're on plane, bring them out some to get the bow out of the water. Too far, and the boat will...

need to replace caulk behind transom seal

Re: need to replace chalk behind transom seal You're saying chalk. Like what you write on a blackboard with. I assume you mean caulk. What hole are you talking about? Is it from something that was mounted on the transom? Or, is it where the outdrive is mounted?

    Furuno VX1 and Northstar antenna

Sorry, I didn't even realize you're in Australia. I'm pretty sure the waypoints get saved to the machine, not the card. Look at the features tab on the Furuno website. It says it saves up to 1000 waypoints. http://www.furunousa.com/Products/Produ ... duct=1833C I don't personally know the guy...
