    Raymarine Electronics Question

    I for one like to have redundant navigation electronics on my boat..especially with the combo units, if you have a problem with the display, you lose everything..I had a C120 screen go black on me and I lost my radar, plotter and fishfinder. Although at the time I had 2 other chart plotters at...

    Returning To Dock Questions

    John, Where as you will not get the same slow speed handling of a twin screw inboard, you can get similar "movement" from the boat with twin outboards...you can still work one against the other and get similar handling...just take your time and practice,,that is the best advise I could...

    Gulfstream Question

    Pauly, Your underdeck area is amazingly clean, even for a 2000. When I peered under the deck of my 1990, I was afraid to touch anything in there let alone put my camera in there...the area he is talking about used to be reserved for the oil tanks, fuel filters and transfer pumps..or at least in...

    Boat Transporter DE --> NY

    2002Dolphin, I guess you are also 1974Mako171 on the Hull Truth...anyway, I am puzzled about your post. Bruce always moved my boats with a hydraulic trailer and there is no way that a boat can slide off one of those, especially when the bow sits low and the rear hydraulic pads are raised...

    Boat Transporter DE --> NY

    Yeah that is the same guy..he hauled my boats from 1993 until he retired and sold the bussiness. I never had any problem wuth him at all and he was always very careful..that was one of the reasons that I liked him. He even hauled a 24 Rampage down from Mass, hauled a 26 Shamrock I sold to North...

    fuel tank install?

    You are right around the corner.I am just on the other side of Radio Road...I almost sold a 23 Steigercraft to a guy half way down that road about 13 years ago...I'll have to stop by and check out your tank job...I may be doing the same thing once I get my Gulfstream back from the guy replacing...

    fuel tank install?

    RC, It depends on who made the transducer. It may have been from a specific unit....where at in Mystic Islands are you? I am on South Captains Drive down the street from the western basin of the old Mystic Marina..been here since 1970...

    Boat Transporter DE --> NY

    Try Bruce Dawson. He is here in New Jersey but moves stuff all over. 609-226-3788. He hauled a 26 Shamrock I hauled to Beaufort, NC and picked up a 24 Rampage that I bought up in Taunton, Mass and recently gave me a price to haul my Gulfstream up to Lindhurst, NY for a transom replacement..but I...

    fuel tank install?

    That was my initial thought and I told the guy redoing the transom to break it out of his way..which it popped right off..I did not cut the cable as I still am not sure what it is...I cant get into the back of my dash yet as I dont have the key for the stupid locking latches and I am going to...

    fuel tank install?

    RC,,let me know if you find out what that thing is..my new-to-me boat has one too and I have no clue what it is or if I even need it...

    gulfstream

    If you are comfortable with the 23 Gulfstream, you will be fine with a 25..I have had a pair of 26 Shamrocks and there was no difference in the handling or my comfort level...after my first one I jumped up to a 34 Silverton and that was a big girl...

    gulfstream

    Jasonc, Look into the 25 Sailfish models. It is pretty much the same boat as the Gulfstream but 2 feet longer and I think a lot more of them were made, so they should be easier to locate. THe Voyager is a nice boat, but will be different ride than the wider hull.

    Transom Repair - South Jersey

    It does not sound like the fiberglass guy has been having fun. He has a lot of cool tools..he has different grinding/cutting wheels..1 even has a chain saw blade wrapped around it...dont know how well it works, but it looks neat.....he has been drilling and chipping away with a chisel as...

    Transom Repair - South Jersey

    Stopped by the check on progress this morning. Scott is just about done digging out the old core. All he has left to do is dig out the core from the port side of the transom. The core is just voer 2" thick and consists of 2 layer of 3/4" plywood and 1 layer of 3/8". The aluminum seen previously...

    Bottom Paint Removal

    I had the bottom of my 17 Mako and a 1987 26 Shamrock sand blasted. The guy did my neighbors 31 Bertram in the same day. It depends on the guy doing it and how careful he is..I had no issues with the finish. We barrier coated the boats after he was done..no problems...
