    Gulfstream v. Journey

If you put the coals to her she pops right up...but I dont run my boat like that...just eats fuel and beats on the engines..if I want to blast around I take out my 17 Mako..which runs about the same speeds as the Grady...you are running about 2 mph faster than me at the same rpms...but what fuel...

    Gulfstream v. Journey

Magical Bill, How fast do you cruise around? I was out on the ocean Sunday with 5-10 knots of wind with a 2' swell from the east and a 1-2 chop from the south and roughly 22-23 mph was comfortable....I had the swell on the bow and the chop was throwing kidney punches on the chine...any faster...

Trim/tilt goes up but not down!

If you can find the relays, you may be able to jumper the one for lowering the engine....

    Gulfstream v. Journey

How much time do you plan on towing the boat? Short hops around town, many do not worry about it. My buddy drags his around oftenand takes it out to the local gas stations...for me, it is a big boat to schlep around. The Journey is going to rock a little more with the narrower beam and should...

    Atlantic Towers?

I had a AT hardtop on my 24 Rampage. It was built for the bridge of a larger boat and was rejected due to damage, which I could not find. It was a thing of beauty and no different than the custom t-top that I had made for a 21 Mako. It had the light weight hard top, led lights, etc. I did not...

    Fuel tank replacement

We replaced the 85 gallon aluminum tank in my dads 2001 19 Mako this spring with a 53 gallon poly tank from Great Lakes Skipper ...no issues with the tank and the cost was less than half of what an aluminum tank would have cost..plus we had it in 3 days...

Starboard Engine Shakes (OX66 Yamaha SS)

I have had the "shaking" engine 2x on my port motor, but I have 4-strokes..both times it was an injector, but I still have a rough running engine..it just was not as noticible at cruising speeds...last season the mechanic replaced 1 and it went away..this year they did all 4...problem went away...

Yamaha Ox66 Power Issues Please Help!!

My dad had similar problems with his 150 ox66 and it has turned out both times to be the vst filter, it gets plugged up with small particles from the ethanol in the gasoline..

    batteries

Most of what I have read about batteries in boating and rv magazines and books says to keep them all the same..same type, same size, cranking with cranking, dppe cycle with deep cycle, etc..since they all charge at different rates...I would check with the battery manufacturer if you want to run...

    replacing fuel sending unit

Why are you replacing the sending unit? I only ask that because when I yanked and cleaned the main tank in my Gulfstream I removed the old sending unit and replaced it with a new one and now I have fuel weepeing around the srew heads when I fill the tank all the way..by the way, the sending...

    Bad News….

In my experience replacing fuel systems, the heavy green wire goes from the fuel tank to the fill pipe..it grounds the fill pipe to the tank since they are connected with a rubber hose..I beleive that this is supposed to prevent the development of static electricity while pumping gas into the...

Help with Repairing weak floor board ?

I recored the main hatch on my Gulfstream last year. My fighting chair wazs like a hobby horse ride..the thing on the metal spring.....I used my circular saw and adjusted the blade height and I cut out the old soaked wood core and the layer of glass on the bottom. I replaced it with a piece of...

    Yamaha 2004 4 stroke......Did I do something wrong?

You did not say what engine model you have. When I bought my Grady in the fall of 2010, the starboard engine was leaking oil and I had to have the oil pump replaced. The engine had about 900 hours on it at the time...the port engine is still fine and has 1000 hours on it now..

    Transom Issues

I did the transom on my 23 Gulfstream last year and it cost me about $7000 including removing the engines and reinstalling them. It sounds like you really like the boat and only you can decide if you want to keep it for a while....

Grady 282 Bilge Going On Every 5 mins

Have you re-read what you are typing...you replaced the filter for the fresh water tank, which is 30 gallons and they are re-filling the tank every couple of weeks...sounds to me like the water is leaking out of the tank into the bilge and your bilge pump is pumping it out....you did not say how...

    fuel mileage comparison

I have a 1990 23 Gulfstream with a pair of 2004 F150's (1000 hrs). The boat humps along. At 3500 rpms I am running 25 mph burning about 11 gallons per hour combined as per the flow scan. At 4000 rpms she runs at 30 mph burning 14 gallons per hour combined for a little better than 2 miles per gallon.

    1984 offshore questions

T.....the age of your boat should not be a factor with performance. I dont think you said what HP your seadrive was? I ran a 80's 24 down in the Keys with a 200 Merc and it humped along...3500 rpms is probably the bottom end of efficient cruising...3500-4000 is a good rpm range for an outboard...

Boat ramp in Marathon FL suitable for Marlin

My dad goes to Key Colony Beach every winter. We have used most of the ramps in the area. The one on the Sedorsky (spelling) boulevard is a good ramp, protected adn easy to get in and out of. It will cost you $10. The new ramp just past the Quay is in real nice shape now, but the parking area is...

    I/O's vs OB's

At 3600 rpms you are going to have the secondaries open in the 4-barrel carburator and you will be burning more than 10 gpms..closer to 16 would be my guess. From my experiences running 3 boats with single inboards, 1 with twins and a 24 Rampage with a 260 hp 350 mercruiser coupled to an Alpha...
