If so that would be really upsetting, I bought it new this spring from a Grady dealer when i bought my 228 so trusted their recommendation. I plan to haul it from VA to FL at least once a year and I regularly travel 200 - 300 miles with it.

Thanks, right now I only have a 2" drop but before I start messing with thre calipers I'll measure and bring it up a couple inches with a straight receiver.

How do you know if the calipers are sticking and how do you fix it? I've been trailering a smaller boat long distances for 30 plus years. I take all the precautions and carry a lot of spares but just bought a new trailer with breaks and the front axel constantly runs much hotter than the rear...

Go with the Silverado. I tow my 228 with a Ram 1500 no problem but I'm also planning to take it to FL from VA in the winter so I'm glad to have that extra power.

My 228 has floor/deck drains in front of the helm seats and water splashes up through them in moderate rolling so I think you'll need a major macerate pump with check valve if you want that area to drain overboard. I'd like to hinge the whole hatch lengthwise but the pilot seats will interfere...

I'm familiar with and like GE silicone for this kind of application and normally I'd just clean the excess with some sort of solvent (acetone) but I'd be interested to see what you do with dawn and water.

I'm doing some chores and hopefully some fishing this weekend probably won't be able to post pics until next week. Looks like a factory install of a lewmar pro fish, the issue is the line hits the front part of the locker first so bunches and clogs rather than dropping to the bottom.

Thanks, that center 3x2 deck panel needs to be sealed so good thing you figured that out. Next time I'll plug my deck scupper drains to see how fast it'll shed 100 gallons but in all my years I've never had anywhere near that much water on deck and can't imagine what conditions would put me in...

I'm still learning my 05 228 so I totally agree with what you're doing, need to understand your boat but you might be over thinking things. If you somehow got hundreds of gallons on deck 99% would drain out your scupper before entering the bilge and unless you had a major issue your bilge...

All these plus several others including the front anchor locker. Bone dry bilge is not possible but worth looking into if you're getting a lot of water on a calm day and you're not doing a lot of washing.

It's custom fabricated for a Grady dealer in Seattle called Jacobsen Marine. $600 plus shipping but it's a work of art and solid as a rock. I dare say I could probably tie a line to it and lift the entire boat with it.
