Helm A/C for the 300 Marlin

On my 2004, I believe giving up some tackle space under either of the helm chairs would provide a great location for a separate heat/ac unit. It would also eliminate the need for long duct runs. In the hot FL and Bahamas sun, I don't think a single stock unit would keep up.

    What Did You Use ...

If you can find a local conveyor company, old belting makes an excellent lining. The belting (particularly outdoor material) is water and oil resistant and can be cut to suit you.

Rover: I know what you're talking about - curtains up with a strong cross wind and current can get pretty dicey.

    new batteries for a 208 175hpdi yamaha?

I always look at replacement between the 3rd and 4th year. Why? Because I've seen degradation beginning then, particularly faster discharging. This is my guideline for a properly maintained battery. Poorly maintained batteries can be lost a lot sooner. My Marlin came with Deka batteries...

    Battery Maintenance/Replacement question

I always look at replacement between the 3rd and 4th year. Why? Because I've seen degradation beginning then, particularly faster discharging. This is my guideline for a properly maintained battery. Poorly maintained batteries can be lost a lot sooner. Not sure what batteries you have in...

Drilling Angled Holes For Rod Holders

If you have a long pilot bit and a buddy to hold the upside-down rod holder as a guide, you should be able to free-hand drill the hole. They also make a jig that the drill attaches to that can be set at the appropriate angle. See a pic of the jig here: http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thre...

    Autopilot on a 222 Fisherman

Read my previous response carefully. I said "it's been discontinued". However, it still appears on the Raymarine website (again, showing discontinued). There are still several suppliers that are listing them such as Boaters World. As I also said, he may still be able to pick one up on line...

    Autopilot on a 222 Fisherman

Raymarine's Sport Pilot series may have been a consideration for a mechanically steered boat. It mounts under the steering wheel and actually spins the wheel to steer the boat. I had one on a boat and it was marginal with twins (hydraulic steering). This series has been discontinued, but you...

    TR 1 Auto pilot

I'm not that familiar with the TR1, but on my furuno you can set the tracking to course or off-track. In course, the unit makes adjustments for wind and current. As a result, the heading may (will) change over time - but you will always be headed to the target. In off-track, the pilot will...

    All Shined Up

GT, I grew up in West Hempstead and lived in NC, IL,OH, VA and GA since. Moved to Vero Beach, FL from Atlanta two years ago and (except for insurance and prop taxes) it's absolutely the best place to live. In the morning I have to decide between fishing from the beach, a jetty, a bridge, in...
