    We built a shelf in there, fastening it to the sides of the compartment. No fastening on the slope side as concern for the hull. From there, we screwed battery trays to the shelf.

    Running out of fuel

    I'd check your fuel/water separator filters. A tank that low could have an accumulation of water unless you are running ethanol free gas. Just a suggestion.
